Worth the wait
Boardwalk’s Centro 733 saves the best for last
David McIlveen is begin-ning to see the light at the end of the tunnel from the top floors of Centro 733. After more than a year of extensive renovations to the high rise on 14th Ave. S.W. the fourth and final phase of Boardwalk Rental Communities’ Centro 733 is about to be released.
It’s a moment McIlveen, along with the rest of the Boardwalk sales staff, have anxiously been waiting for like a child on Christmas morning.
“We are very excited that we are finishing up and ready for the launch of the last phase,” says McIlveen, director of community development with Boardwalk Rental Communi-ties. “Everything has gone the way we thought it would, but it sold out a little faster than we expected.”
Since the first phase of the concrete high-rise, which is being extensively renovated and refurbished, was released in January, followed shortly by the second and third phase in the spring, sales of the 90 units have been any-thing but slow.
Heading into the fourth phase, McIlveen is expecting the units to sell out quickly after hundreds of people registered online to keep up with what’s going on with the final floors of the project, which is expected to be finished construction by the end of this year and ready for January possession dates.
Each phase has taken approximately three months to fully renovate at a rate of 24 units at a time. At the moment, the third phase is still under construction while residents of the second phase, which consist mainly of young profes-sionals in their late 20s and mid 30s, have recently moved into their new modern home.
Each unit features open floor plans with all the desired upgrades, including gorgeous granite countertops throughout the kitchen and bathroom, stainless steel Maytag appliances, over-the-range microwave and built-in hood fan and a breakfast bar in addition to the dining area. A signature glass vessel sink can be found in the main bath, along with Venetian blinds on the windows and in-suite laundry.
Not only will the common areas and suites be redone in luxury finishes, but the electrical, mechanical, heating systems and elevators have also been extensively im-proved, and new custom-built, medal-clad windows have been added to form an integral part of the overall contemporary design.
To top it all off, Centro 733 will boast a private function room, executive centre and workout facility perfect for those interested in maintaining an active lifestyle.
Combine all these elements with the best of Calgary at your doorstep and a starting price of $299,900 and it becomes a package buyers simply can’t refuse.
“They want to live downtown and live close to shopping, restaurants and 17th Avenue. What people are finding is a great location with high-end finishing at a slightly better price than what they would get in a brand-new building, but the same in terms of quality,” says McIlveen, who is pleased with how smoothly the renovation has gone thus far. “When you do a major renovation, there is always going to be some surprises, but it’s pretty much been what we expected. We are right on schedule for timing.”
Centro 733 is your pathway to the city and offers two two-bedroom floor plans – the Platino with 904 square-feet and the Urban with 855 square-feet, along with a one-bedroom floor plan, the Casetta, with 683 square-feet of living space.
Outside of their condo, residents can enjoy the park-like setting and views of the inner city as they relax on their balcony or patio after a long, hard day at the office. CL
Show suite hours are Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends and holidays, noon to 5 p.m.
