Pedestrian-friendly townhome project focuses on community
Finding the perfect home is like sampling fine wine—you must take your time to truly enjoy the experience while savoring all the flavours.
So for those who decide to check out Silver Sky Court in the new southwest community of Silverado, beware, your taste buds are bound to experience a sensory overload.
When creating the concept for the 94-unit townhouse project, the executives at Silver Sky Court LP wanted to craft a community where neighbours could greet one another while sipping wine on their front patio, rather than a gated community where residents enter their homes through their garages and retire
for the evening.
According to vice-president Rob Kennedy, some of the units are turned frontward, with the garages at the rear, while other units have their garages at the front of the home. The end result is an open, uniquely planned, pedestrian-friendly condominium complex that stretches far away from the typical cookie-cutter homes.
“I don’t believe in fencing neighbours off. What we wanted to do was try and have this community become a part of the overall community,” says Kennedy. “We wanted to celebrate the project and tie it into the celebration of Silverado.”
The contemporary-style townhouses will include 20 buildings and 94 two-storey units, which range in size from 1,170 square-feet to 1,379 square-feet. Units are available in two- and three-bedroom models with a single-car garage.
On the outside, potential buyers will be drawn to the English brownstone style, with each unit proudly displaying a different front door. Through the front door, each home comes equipped with a full stainless steel appliance package, which includes a front loading washer and dryer.
A gas fireplace in the elegantly-designed living room is the perfect way to warm up during a cold winter night while sipping on hot chocolate. Guests in the kitchen will also be impressed by the shaker style cabinets that come in a maple or flat white finish, while the full ceramic backsplash is sure to turn heads. And for anybody who has ever dreamt of swiffering their very own hardwood floors, now is the perfect time to do so as Silver Sky Court is offering a promotion to upgrade all vinyl areas on the main floor to hardwood at no extra cost.
So far buyers can’t seem to wait to get their hands on one of the units, with prices starting in the low-$300,000 range. Since the sales centre opened in late June, there have already been 14 units sold and nine more units are currently under reservation.
“Right now we are finding a mixed demographic of buyers,” says Kennedy. “I think the value of these homes is excellent. It doesn’t look like a price-point development. A lot of builders are putting all kinds of decoration on the exterior of homes. We found that simple lines done tastefully can look just as nice, if not better.”
Construction on the first of the series of units began in April and is nearly 85 per cent complete. Kennedy expects homeowners will be able to begin moving in by November.
The development marks the first of its kind for Silver Sky Court LP, which is being managed by Vertical Properties. With a well-planned development and an experienced team led by Kennedy, who has 28 years of experience in the housing industry in Calgary, the owners of Silver Sky Court LP are very excited with the experience thus far.
“We have a long history in the industry and we are a very successful and experienced team,” says Kennedy.
The community of Silverado lies on the southwest border of Calgary and not only boasts numerous bike paths, but is also a five-minute drive to shopping, city transit and several restaurants. Silver Sky Court is located at 155 Silverado Skies Link S.W. CL
