Streetside’s Robson

Summiting condo shoppers’ expectations

It only takes a drive into Summit of Montreux to see Streetside Development Corporation’s much-anticipated westerly condominium project, Robson, beginning to take shape. Now flanking the entrance to the coveted west-side address off 85 Street, Robson promises to become a handsome cornerstone of the community.

“The project’s schedule is progressing at a nice pace,” says Kendra Milne, Streetside Development Corporation’s marketing co-ordinator of the ultimately 160-unit building’s development progress.

The project’s sales were placed on hold back in April, after a year of brisk buying, for construction to catch up with demand, but Milne says sales are slated to resume at the end of this month.

While more than half – 60 per cent, in fact – of Robson addresses are spoken for, the majority of the project’s floor plans are still up for the taking by interested buyers. But would-be residents are urged to step into the queue sooner than later, as they will not be alone in their desire for home ownership.

“We have a lot of people who are waiting for these units, so we are advising people to just keep in touch with the salespeople,” says Milne.  For those who bought early, the wait is just about over, as the first residents will cross Robson thresholds in August of this year. “We’re lucky to be able to offer a shorter wait to possessions at this time,” she notes.

Standard fare being dished up in Robson kitchens are Streetside’s elevated specification, including Silgranit sinks with pullout veggie sprayers, Bosch- and Whirlpool-brand kitchen appliances, nine-foot ceilings, desks crafted into most floor plans, walk-through closets, window blinds and a choice of maple, oak or alder cabinetry with a selection of stains.

Sizes of suites still available range from the 589 square-foot studio, to one-bedroom plans spanning 616 to 670 square-feet, while two-bedroom digs are sized from 868 square-feet to a palatial 1,022 square-feet.

While appointments do stack up well in the eyes of discerning Robson Summit of Montreux buyers, as with any successful real estate venture it’s the location that ultimately seals the deal.

“It’s an excellent location for anyone looking to be close to downtown, but to not lose space unnecessarily. There are some units that have views of the Elbow Valley,” says Milne.

And while first-time home shoppers are lured by the value and west-side address, an equal selection of “downsizers” wanting to stay in the area without the worry of home maintenance have also climbed aboard as buyers at Robson.“It’s a very desirable part of the city; you are outside the city, but still close. Bow Trail is such an excellent access route, and 17 Avenue is right there – you are 20 minutes from anywhere,” says Milne.

What’s perhaps most unique about the 160-home address is its construction. The five-level building, which will be punctuated by an inner courtyard and turrets in some suites to add even more curb appeal, never appears more than three stories thanks to a structure tiered into the earth. “It steps down the hill and really blends in with the land,” says Milne, adding stucco and brick exteriors also help maintain property value for owners.

Prized rides are also protected when not in use, in underground parking stalls with storage lockers sewn into Robson ownership. Meanwhile,  budgeting is a cinch as most monthly bills are taken care of within the cost of residents’ condominium fees.

The mountains and shopping are a stone’s throw away from Robson’s doors, while those who prefer to stick closer to home will be able to reap the benefits of on-site amenities, including a common fire pit and Barbecue area, kitchen and workout area.

Prices are expected to ring in from the upper $200,000s when marketing continues at the end of the month.

To get to Robson’s sales centre and showsuite (open Monday through Wednesday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from noon to 5 p.m.), for a first-hand peek at the building under construction and standard finishing, take 17 Avenue west to 85 Street and follow the signs to Robson in the Summit of Montreux.
