There are a great deal of new condominiums making appearances all over Calgary lately, and one of the best selling features is close proximity to the city’s centre. However, some buyers aren’t necessarily looking to live in a high-rise project, even though the idea of a maintenance-free home is still an attractive one. One Calgary-based company offers exceptional alternative living spaces set in desirable communities.

INSPERIENCE, a family-run company, offers more than just beautiful living spaces, they bring a passion to each project that is reflected in the design and finishing of each home that they create. Josef Terek, founder of the company, has become a visionary in the industry with his ability to look at a property or living space, and envision its potential; the diamond-in-the-rough. Before they even became revitalization zones, Josef envisioned bringing new vitality to older communities. He recognized the allure of established communities with their huge trees and charming streets, not to mention the fact that many of them are situated minutes from the downtown core. His first project in Mission a few years ago was the first of its kind in that area, and was very well received. Now, in the picturesque community of Altadore, Josef has once again acted upon his instincts and created yet another innovative living space.

Altadore is the perfect setting for Insperience’s newest project, Chateau Pearla. Less than two blocks from River Park and the scenic Elbow River valley and pathways, Chateau Pearla also has access to all the amenities, fashionable shops and coffee-houses that Marda Loop Village has to offer; an area that is fast becoming one of Calgary’s more popular outdoor shopping venues. Altadore has been around for many years and has recently become one of the more sought-after neighbourhoods to live in. Its huge trees and quiet atmosphere are part of the reason that Josef and his team embarked on this particular project.

Chateau Pearla is a modern four-unit retrofitted condominium that’s as beautiful on the inside as it is from the curbside. As the name would suggest, the exterior design is reminiscent of an attractive European chateau. From the stamped concrete walkways and attractive archways and pillars, to the handsome brick and stone-tile accents, Chateau Pearla is an elegant addition to the street on which it resides. “We wanted to include stamped concrete because it just makes the property look nicer,” says Josef. “However, all the concrete companies were too busy and so we had to learn how to do it ourselves.” And it was well worth the effort, as you can see from walking around the building. In addition to the front patios and walkways, this elegant feature continues to the back of the building and to the covered car port at the rear of the property, and is also continued on the stairwell leading to the rear units; ensuring a safer climb in more slippery weather conditions.

Inside, there are four completely different floor plans to choose from, ranging from 830- to 1,181-square-feet. Each home incorporates the same elegant features and detailing, yet individually they will appeal to different buyers with different lifestyles. Each unit includes two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite countertops and luxurious tiger wood engineered flooring (named for its distinct colour and pattern). Josef’s son, Adrian, says that the company did much of the detailing and finishing of the units themselves.

“I laid all the tiles in the bathrooms, both on the floors and the surrounds, and we also installed the engineered flooring ourselves,” says Adrian. “As well, each of the corner fireplaces was handcrafted right on the spot, including the tiling and the woodwork on the mantles.” As you walk through each unit you can see the work that has gone into perfecting these homes, and there are many other details that are included in each suite, such as cut-outs in some of the walls to allow better lighting, warm espresso-stained maple cabinetry with under cabinet lighting and a gourmet island to compliment the spacious kitchen.

Each unit has a private entrance, generous patio or balcony, and its own private electric hot water tank. All the heating in these units is electric, eliminating a costly gas bill each month. Some of the smaller rooms have radiant heating, while others have a blowing system, and each room has its very own thermostat that allows individual and instantaneous heating. Chateau Pearla really has everything you could possibly ask for in a condo—beautiful features in a great community only minutes from downtown. Prices start at $369,900, and if you are interested in taking a look for yourself, Chateau Pearla is located at 3526-15th Street S.W.
