Real Investments TV is produced by Chandran Media, whose credits include online media the Business Daily Review, as well as Arts & Letters Daily and Scitech Daily Review—the latter of which were finalists in the Webby Awards.

Six million households or a potential ten million viewers are expected to tune in for Real Investments TV, which is slotted in a prime spot at 5:30 p.m. on Citytv Sundays beginning in July. Not just geared at real estate professionals, builders and developers, producers say investors and homebuyers will also have plenty of reasons to watch, to tap into innovative ideas for taking advantage of the boom, while staying ahead of the competition, or just for pure curiosity’s sake about what’s happening.

“There are always a lot of questions about, and there is a lot of human interest (in real estate and development) right now. Whether you work in it, have investments, or are a just a resident, we are going to be able to put the stories in segments,” says Andrea Richelhoff, executive producer for Real Investments TV.

Richelhoff says, in addition to local stories in the markets of Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg, Vancouver and Toronto will be added to the programming cities all to be aired on Citytv, ultimately providing an opportunity for national stories about the Alberta, B.C. and Southern Ontario markets. “We are really looking at making it as mixed as possible, to appeal to a broader range of viewers,” she explains.

Source Media Group’s own co-publisher, Richard MacQuarrie, is among experts who will be featured, in one-minute segments on the weekly half-hour program, slated to air in Calgary and Edmonton. He says while magazines and the Internet have a certain and tangible audience, nothing beats the power of the small screen.

“I think there has never been a show of this nature and the condo market is growing at such a rate now, it’s needed. Until now there has been no way of discussing real estate investments, including condo and resort property,” says MacQuarrie. “It’s just a new and innovative way of getting this message to the market outside of traditional print. The Web is a fantastic model, but television still reaches more people on a daily basis.”

While Source Media Group has been no stranger to the Internet, with New Home Living and Condo Living magazines available online, the opportunity to team up print media and television was impossible to pass up, says MacQuarrie.

Richelhoff says MacQuarrie’s segment will provide welcome fresh insight as well as some continuity between shows, which will also feature experts ranging from mortgage professionals to realtors and real estate developers, with a focus on both the residential and commercial growth and investment opportunities.

Those who tune in might also recognize from the Calgary skyline Cove Properties’ high-rise Nuera, which will be featured on the premiere show, along with Cove’s
vice-president of sales and marketing, John Sparrow.

Tune into Real Investments TV Sundays at 5:30 pm on Citytv in Calgary, starting July 15. The Edmonton and Winnipeg editions are slated to be in homes starting July 22, while Toronto and Vancouver dates for Real Investments TV have not been finalized. CL
