Bordeaux
One of Canada's top condos
Calgarians love their condos. And for good reason. Calgary is home to some of the best condominiums in Canada.
We’ve come to expect a very high level of quality and Calgary builders have delivered.
One such builder is Avalon Master Builder, the company behind the Bordeaux in Cranston townhomes. A fixture on the Calgary new homes scene for the last 20-plus years, Avalon’s commitment to quality housing has been recognized at the highest level this year with the nomination of Bordeaux for a national SAM Award.
Meanwhile, Calgarians have been recognizing Avalon’s excellence in their own fashion – by buying up all but three of the 44 gorgeous two-storey townhomes at Bordeaux. “We have two of the Gamay homes left and one of the Chardonnay,” says Joyce Scott of Avalon.
The Gamay features 713 square feet on the main floor with another 1009 on the second level. In addition to three spacious bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, the Gamay has a bonus family room over top of the two-car garage. Homes also own their private fenced backyard area, making them perfect for people with small pets or children. The Chardonnay has main floor square footage of 744 feet and another 1002 square feet upstairs. It’s also a three bedroom home, with all of the same high-end finishes of the Gamay show home; like all granite kitchen counter tops, ceramic tile backsplashes, built-in appliances, and a spacious, open floor plan. Outside, homes feature French Country styling with extensive use of durable cultured stone and stucco with wood accents. The community makes up an entire cul-de-sac, so the look is very distinct.
But Avalon doesn’t just build homes to look good. They build them to the highest Built Green™ standards. That means all homes include a high efficiency furnace, low E windows, an energy-efficient fresh air exchange system, low-flush toilets, and certified Built Green energy efficiency. Those are the big things. But they also pay attention to the little things that make a difference. Things like having electronic fireplace ignition so the pilot light isn’t always running, burning gas. Things like using recycled carpet underlay.
According to Scott, people have been moving in since last June, with final occupancies expected late this spring. So far, she says, buyers range from 50-something-ish people nearing retirement, to young professionals, to families. “It’s definitely a lifestyle choice,” she says. “They want a home in the suburbs, but not the work involved.”
Both available Gamay homes are priced at $399,900 plus GST. The one remaining Chardonnay home is currently priced at $421,900 plus GST.
