The Village of Westhills
Monticello gives '70s apartments an extreme makeover
What happens when a 1970’s era apartment complex meets up with a company that specializes in retrofitting? When that company is Monticello, a handsome, up-to-date condominium development is created.
Monticello’s latest project is The Village of Westhills, located at the corner of Old Banff Coach Road and Coach Hill Road, in a “quiet, very well established upper end neighbourhood,” says Jon Harris, President and CEO. Mature landscaping is already in place and with “amazing city views, being close to shopping and the Westhills Recreation Centre, and only ten minutes to downtown on the newly widened Bow Trail,” this project is not to be missed.
With four floor plans, including one- bedroom, one-bedroom-with-loft, two- bedroom, and two bedroom-with-loft, plus two different renovation packages to choose from, these suites offer city or courtyard views and plenty of parking. Sizes range from 655 to 1052-square- feet. Pricing starts at $249,000. There are 91 units in the complex, with approximately 70 still available.
The show suite is located in the 600 Building on the third floor. It is a two bedroom plan with a loft and one bath. Neutral tones of paint, carpet, and ceramic tile enhance the sophisticated décor. Natural light pervades throughout the show suite’s ample windows. Cork flooring is used in the dining area as well as in the kitchen, visually warming up the space. The functional kitchen is equipped with a combination stainless steel and black Whirlpool appliance package that co-ordinates with the maple cabinetry and granite countertops.
A sleek modern electric fireplace is located in the spacious living room. Upstairs, the loft is considered the flex room of the suite. There is enough room for a big-screen television, computer, or media centre, a guest room or even exercise area.
Storage is not a concern. Large closets in each of the good-sized bedrooms, plus the loft, offer a great deal of space. Additional storage is located under the stairs. A locked storage closet is found outside through the sliding glass doors to the deck.
Subway tile is used as a backsplash in both the kitchen and bathroom, with undermounted sinks found in both rooms. Integrated into the bathroom is the in-suite laundry, with full-sized washer and dryer. Granite is used on the vanity in this room, as well.
All the buildings have new windows, lighting, new electrical, plumbing and fixtures, carpeting, and paint. During the retrofit, the exterior of the buildings will also be painted.
“We are an established company with numerous projects in our five-year history. Our first 25 sales at The Village of Westhills saw the majority of them being repeat customers. We have a number of purchasers who buy into each of our projects. Those who do it for investment have done extremely well. And those who choose to live in them? They enjoy the amenities and the quality of renovations. What we have here with Monticello is a team and that is right from the developer to the site superintendent to our marketing people and our staff, many of which have purchased units in this project and previous Monticello projects,” states Harris proudly. “Once again, we have raised the bar, not only with quality but with location. The enhancements and improvements Monticello does ensure the purchaser’s investment and peace of mind.”
