If you've been looking for a new home recently, you’ve probably thought about what the utility costs are going to be. You’ve probably also figured out that next to your mortgage, energy costs are the next biggest cost of running your home. And energy costs aren’t going down any time soon. An energy efficient Built Green™ home can reduce those costs and at the same time give you a more comfortable home. But it’s about more than energy efficiency. Making a choice today for energy efficiency is also a choice for our environment tomorrow. But don’t think you have to give up style for energy efficiency.

Avalon Master Builder, a builder that builds all their homes under the Built Green™ banner, is building 200 very stylish two or three bedroom two-storey townhomes in the new Airdrie community of King’s Alley located on the southeast side of Airdrie. The project, called ZEN (in balance) offers a choice of five different floorplans, ranging in size from 1,100 to 1,200 square-feet with prices starting from the low $250,000s not including GST.
The four standard designer colour palettes give homeowners an excellent range to personalize their homes. In addition to the professionally landscaped surroundings and playground, each home comes complete with its own fenced backyard. You can see the maintenance-free exteriors and beautiful interior finish selections when you visit the two very stylish showhomes.

ZEN floor plans are all really well planned, functional designs. The kitchens all have walk-in pantries and homeowners can add a centre island with pots and pan drawers. There’s a powder room on the main floor and a choice of two or three bathrooms upstairs depending on the floorplan.
What you don’t see is that ZEN is certified Built Green™ and has energy efficiency built right in – features including low-e Energy Star windows, a 25-year roof, a 95% efficient furnace, and a programmable Energy Star thermostat. That means you’ll have more green in your bank account in monthly energy savings year after year! What’s more ZEN homes are built to last. The project sales consultant, Sandra Peters says people can’t believe how comfortable and draft free these homes are.

The first phase sold out very quickly and homeowners have been moving in since last summer. Phase 2 is now released and some homes are available for immediate possession . “Although there is still lots of choice, Phase 2 homes have been selling very well so I wouldn’t delay” says Sandra Peters, the sales consultant for ZEN. She explains that a lot of homeowners work in Calgary and access to the highway is direct from King’s Alley. They appreciate that there’s no need to drive through Airdrie. And you can walk to the mall to shop – it’s all very convenient.

You can visit the two fully decorated showhomes at 2445 Kingsland Rd SE in Airdrie. Hours are Monday to Thursday 2PM to 8PM and weekends noon to five. Closed Fridays. You can also call 912-4081 for an appointment.
