More people in Calgary are selling their houses and moving into a condominium. Many condos are situated closer to the downtown core, which is great if you work within the city centre.

As well, there are those people who are tired of being responsible for all the yard work, snow removal and the day-to-day chores that come with living in a house. However, one of the reasons that these people may think twice about moving into a condo is that it is considered downsizing. It’s pretty hard to go from living in a large house with all your beautiful furniture and large living areas, to a much smaller living space. Well, that’s not always necessary, and West 17th Lofts offers a transition that maintains the quality and style of life that some people are accustomed to. Whether you are moving out of a house or buying a home for the first time, when you choose West 17th Lofts, you are choosing luxury living.

Built and developed by Pacer Signature Homes, West 17th Lofts is an executive loft condominium project consisting of 44 units housed in seven buildings, located in the affluent community of Aspen Estates. Situated across from the popular Westside Recreational Centre, on the corner of 17th Avenue and 69th Street S.W., these homes will benefit from the proximity of the Centre, as well as being only moments away from wonderful shops and fine-dining experiences. With many amenities to choose from, West 17th Lofts is also only 15 minutes from Calgary’s downtown core and all the entertainment, cultural experiences and exciting nightlife that our city has to offer. In addition, for the adventurous of heart, the Lofts will also be close to various parks and golf courses and will be next a four-acre park and include a beautifully landscaped courtyard; complete with two ten-foot water fountains.

These unique lofts offer a very European design and style, both inside and out. Una Lawson, sales manager for West 17th Lofts says that Richard Pelletier, owner of Pacer Signature Homes and president and CEO of West 17th Lofts, discovered a very similar complex while he was in the South of France almost two years ago. “He just fell in love with the whole concept of it and wanted to build something like it in Calgary,” says Lawson. “So they have a very European flair to them and the inside is very contemporary and very open concept.” There are three different floor plans to choose from, ranging from 3,185-to 3,340-square-feet. The Malibu, the Monte Carlo and the Manhattan all offer three floors of European flavoured design features. Lawson says that with the lofts being 75 per cent sold already, the Manhattan seems to be a favourite. This particular floor plan has the living room, kitchen and dining room all on the loft level, which offers a beautiful view and great entertaining potential.

Along with the spacious floor plans and great views, each home includes a Juliet balcony overlooking the courtyard from the loft level, and two more balconies facing the back, as well as oversized, heated double garages on the main level. One of the most amazing features however, has to be the private elevator that each loft offers, located in each double garage area. This is great for owners with less mobility, or for bringing groceries to that loft-level kitchen that the Manhattan offers. Everything about West 17th Lofts is high-end, whether it’s the neighbourhood, the design or the incredible features. There are no upgrades offered in this project, because they are already included. From the stainless-steel appliances, fireplace, in-floor heating, air-conditioning, vacuflo, intercom and security system, to the luxurious finishings, West 17th Lofts have everything. Lawson says that with the first phase due for occupancy sometime this summer, and the second phase due in approximately January or February of 2008, the remaining lofts are selling for anywhere from  $1.1 to $1.6 million. A price reflected in the incredible elegance and features offered in these inspired executive loft homes. CL
