Crossbow Point right on target

IT’S HARD TO know what to describe first in Crossbow Point homes. They are in Canmore’s newest neighbourhood, Three Sisters. The closest subdivision to Calgary, only an hours drive from the west end; and yet only ten minutes from Canmore. The lifestyle is exceptional and made possible by the beautiful location, the homes themselves and membership in the wonderful amenities lodge.

The separate amenity building is stunning and the perfect place to unwind after a day on the golf course or the slopes. The décor speaks of old lodges in remote places. With a massive soaring two-story river rock fireplace centered in the open area library/lounge and games areas, what better way to relax than over a game of pool or shuffleboard. Or end the day with a movie and popcorn in the media room.

Owners and guests will enjoy exercise equipment, spa-like pool, sauna, steam shower and outdoor hot pools. Remember how wonderful an outdoor hot pool is, at night, outside while a heavy blanket of snow descends?.

Homeowners are also fortunate to share a boardroom and a large and beautifully decorated reception room complete with kitchen to host a once a year splash. Invite everyone. It’s big enough. Of course with all the amenities this complex offers, a vacation in one of these homes would be a great corporate perk. I wonder how many companies have one of these in their portfolios to keep good staff from straying?

At time of writing, homes currently up for resale ranged from just over $300,000 up to $420,000. With an age restriction for full time residents, the complex offers a quiet ambience sure to be respected by weekenders arriving at their retreat who have no such restriction.

One cute little getaway currently listed at entry level pricing had a great cozy ambience. A one bedroom with a den fitted out to include overnight guests, its 900 square feet was neatly set up to maximize all space. Priced at a little over $300,000, buyers won’t wonder long what to do with their last bonus. What better way to enjoy life and create memories than a retreat in the mountains?

This complex, completed in 2004, offers a large variety of sizes, floor plans and interior finishings. Lots of natural and earthy materials chosen by the original owners – slate, tile, hardwood, stainless appliances, solid wood doors – lend a mountain elegance to these alpine getaways. All homes have at least one balcony or patio to enjoy mountain air and possibly views and sunshine.

Crossbow Point is located on the Bow River. With its wonderful hiking/biking trails to the town center, leave the car in its stall. Take the bikes out of the underground storage, and remember why we’re lucky to have a mountain playground in Alberta.  CL
