A bright beacon will soon be rising from the earth in Calgary’s north-central community of Country Hills, drawing people into a safe harbour of comfortable townhouses and condos. Lighthouse Landing, the latest master planned multi-family development by Cardel Lifestyles, is an innovative project that demonstrates a willingness to create a community that is not only functional and affordable, but unique and visually appealing.

It’s easy to visualize what Lighthouse Landing will look like once construction is complete. Set on roughly twenty acres of land and adjacent to a sparkling storm water lake, a mix of four-storey condo buildings and two-storey townhouses surround an authentic three and a half storey tall lighthouse. Done in a New England architectural style with details like battens and roof gables, the development will be reminiscent of an East Coast fishing village.

Tim Logel, president of Cardel Lifestyles, stresses that authenticity is key to making Lighthouse Landing a success. “This lighthouse is the real thing, exactly what you would see on the east coast of New England,” he says. “We’re duplicating one we found there. It’s a really appropriate look considering the water that’s next door to us.”

Logel says Lighthouse Landing is perfect for singles or young couples looking to buy their first home or those customers looking to have a lifestyle home that allows them to live in Calgary part time. The location is just minutes away from Deerfoot Trail via Country Hills Blvd., and from there it’s a quick zip into downtown. Also within a few minutes’ walk are the Country Hills Town Centre, with dozens of shops, services and restaurants, and the Cardel Centre, a recreational facility with a full gym, pool and two arenas. The result is a community that is self-sufficient, with all amenities within walking distance. There will even be a boardwalk leading to both locations, making the short stroll even more pleasant.

Lighthouse Landing has just over 500 homes for purchase in total, roughly 300 condos and 200 townhouses, priced from the low $160,000s to $250,000s, respectively. Units are pre-selling from the Panamount Place (70 Panamount Dr. N.W.) and Panatella Park (85 Panatella Way N.W.) show suites until Lighthouse Landing’s sales centre opens in a few months’ time, and the first phase of the development is set to start moving in at the end of the summer. Logel says the first building is already over 50 per cent sold and that the response from consumers has been encouraging. “So far the customers have just been thrilled with what we’re doing.”   CL
