Coventry Hills condos turn into SAM Awards gold for Cedarglen Homes
Cedarglen Homes, long one of Calgary’s most reliable and popular new home builders, has recently moved into the multi-family market, offering semi-detached homes such as those currently for sale in the north eastern community of Coventry Hills.
Cedarglen still offers its mainstay single family homes in communities like Hanson Ridge, Evergreen, Lake Chaparral and McKenzie Towne, but decided to branch out and enter a new sector. The results have been very promising and the company plans to develop similar projects in the future.
“We’re expanding our exposure in the multi-family market but we will continue to be strong in the single family market in Calgary,” says Laura Rye, Cedarglen’s marketing coordinator.
Cedarglen, celebrating its 25th year as a home builder, recently got an uplifting birthday present when it burst onto the scene at the 2005 Sales and Marketing Awards for Calgary homebuilders. The local company won the SAM Award for customer choice small volume multi-family builder, an achievement the entire company is excited about, especially considering this is the first time Cedarglen has even entered the awards.
“We feel quite proud of our multi-family division,” Rye says. “It’s always the most coveted award [for small volume multi-family builders].” She adds that Cedarglen also entered the single family large volume category and placed in the top five. The SAM Awards not only honour sales and marketing, but developers and partners as well. They’re considered one of Canada’s most prestigious home builder awards.
The win was for the Coventry Hills project, which offers seven separate floor plans to choose from. Rye says the SAM win was very encouraging for the company.
”It reinforces what we strived to become. We know that we can continue on that path,” she says. “[The award] is telling us that we are doing the right things.” She adds that the win indicates that their customers put a great deal of trust in the management, Cedarglen’s partnerships with the trades and suppliers and all the other employees who work toward building them the home of their dreams.
Cedarglen is currently showing four of their seven different suites in Coventry Hills, each of which highlights the many features and options available to buyers. The semi-detached homes, each between 1,320 and 1,350 square feet, demonstrate how this type of design uses land more efficiently, which, at the rate Calgary is expanding, is becoming a more attractive feature and helps to control urban sprawl.
Cedarglen goes out of its way to make the home buying process pleasurable. It offers a complimentary interior decorating consultation to help its buyers choose exactly how they want their homes to look, a service which can make a sometimes overwhelming task easy and fun. Even touring the show suites is made enjoyable via small info tiles posted throughout the models, which point out interesting features that potential buyers might otherwise miss or offer humorous tips, suggesting among other things, that with the money saved on their new home, buyers will be able to afford furniture. It’s a small detail, but it’s one customers remember and appreciate.
The four show suites (36, 40, 44 and 48 Covehaven Cres. NE) display a variety of décor options, from classic country inspired with many natural wood highlights and warm décor, to trendy French Provencal with its colourful accents, to chic contemporary in contrasting dark and light hues.
Common areas in all the models are spacious and encourage family gatherings in the well-lit breakfast nook or around the centre island in the large, open kitchen, or around the gas fireplace in the great room. In some models, such as the Indigo I and II, the dining area is at the very back of the home, while in the Magenta, it acts as a transition between the great room and the kitchen.
Upstairs, a variety of options are available: a master bedroom with walk-in closet and two smaller bedrooms, a perfect setup for families; two master bedrooms with full ensuites and walk-in closets, which appeals to roommates or those who have frequent houseguests; and a master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in closet, one smaller bedroom and a bonus room, just the thing for couples with no children who want a more informal recreational space.
Coventry Hills offers many nearby amenities, such as the convenience of nearby Deerfoot Trail for downtown commuters, space for future elementary and high schools, a future LRT station, the Cardel Place athletic facility and the many shops and restaurants in the Country Hills Town Centre and the Coventry Hills Shopping Plaza. The neighbourhood also has a large storm water pond with surrounding public park space.
Cedarglen’s Coventry Hills development is quickly selling out. With prices around $300,000 including GST and legal fees, there are only a few homes still unsold. Those who have been lucky enough to purchase one of these homes already have spoken: this development is a winner! CL
