Everywhere you look, high-rise condominiums are springing up; construction in various stages of development and cranes filling the city skies. The need for more housing to keep up with Calgary’s growing population isn’t any secret and the building industry is only happy to provide our city with valuable living spaces.

But there are those who aren’t interested in living on the twenty-second storey of a high-rise condominium. Whether it’s that elevator ride every day or just plain vertigo every time you look over the balcony, no matter how elegant the condo is, some potential home-owners would prefer to be closer to the ground. However, buying a house on the outskirts of town may not be feasible either, especially if you work downtown. Well there is another option. Sokol Developments Inc. is offering the Sienna, an attractive condominium that holds eight large two-level suites.

These spacious two-bedroom and two-bedroom plus den suites are not only close to the ground, but close to the city centre as well. Due to be built on 6th Street and McDougal Road N.E., the Sienna’s location will be only a few minutes walk to the Bow River and the downtown core. Don Prestage, Sales Manager with Sokol Developments, says that potential buyers will love the Sienna’s location. “The number one biggest selling feature of the Sienna is location,” says Prestage. “It’s just outstanding. The ideal location offers the amenities of The Bridges as well as the shopping and culture of Downtown.” Not only does the location put you close to all sorts of amenities, but the nearby Bow River path system offers leisurely walks, biking and fantastic views. For those who enjoy the exercise, in one direction you have Prince’s Island park, and in the other, the Calgary Zoo.

Of course the Sienna offers much more than just a fantastic location. There are ten heated underground parking stalls; eight for tenants and two for visitors. This eliminates the need for street parking and the hassles of someone tying to steal your spot. An attractive feature of the suites themselves is that they are two-level living spaces. The large master bedroom is on an entirely different level from the rest of the home, offering a completely separate living area and absolute privacy. The master bedroom includes spacious closets and a full ensuite, including separate bath and shower areas. Of course the ensuite isn’t the only area of the home that offers fantastic features. The entire home includes elegant slate tile, high quality carpet and warm hardwood flooring throughout. These flooring features add a touch of class to each area and add beauty to each room. The functional yet stylish kitchen includes luxurious granite countertops and full slate tile backsplashes. In addition, the raised panel cabinetry is available in either maple, oak or white; enhanced by the tasteful black appliances (also available in stainless steel), and elegant crown mouldings. “These units include executive finishing,” says Prestage. “The Sienna is just full of detailed features and upgraded specifications.”

Construction of the Sienna is due to start later this summer and should be finished in about a year. Out of the eight units, only four are left which just goes to show how great the Sienna really is. Starting from $599,000 the four remaining units include two 1303 square feet suites and two 1380 square feet suites; all offering loads of great features and lots of space. So, if living the high-life for you doesn’t necessarily mean twenty floors up, take a look at what the Sienna has to offer.   CL
