Building excellence is best done with a dedicated team of individuals armed with a passion for designing innovative projects, and Resiance Corporation has perfected the formula.

As the force behind such projects as Gateway Garrison Green and Compass Erin Woods, the family-operated company prides itself on creating communities that push the envelope. “What we know works for our customers is what drives our designs,” says principal Barry Chow, who operates the company alongside brother Wallace Chow.

With four projects currently on the go and another two in the early stages of conception, Resiance is not showing any signs of slowing down. Tucked in the established southeast community of Erin Woods, 153-unit Compass Erin Woods sold out thanks to spacious floor plans and a wonderful location. Nearing the final stage of completion, 250-unit Gateway Garrison Green has been incredibly popular with residents eager to find a piece of inner-city paradise.

“Resiance is very much on the growth and acquisition path. Our projects have proven to be successful and the response has been fantastic.” The Gateway South Centre, their second largest development with 500 units, truly defies the ordinary, from the geo-exchange heat and air conditioning to the solar panels.

Spacious units, luxury amenity rooms including a fitness centre and easy access to Macleod Tr., South Centre and Fish Creek has drawn homeowners searching for something a little different, says Chow.

“It’s so exciting to design a project that really speaks to the needs of customers. We really listen to what is important and Gateway South Centre is wonderful proof of that. At Resiance, we are good at identifying those fundamental needs of customers and then finding a cost-effective way to deliver them.”

The first of six phases is set to be completed by September, while the sixth is just beginning excavation.

“Gateway South Centre is a very exciting project for us and because it’s such a large venture with six phases, it’s incredibly interesting to see because it really showcases every point in the lifecycle from the vision to the construction.”

Downtown in the heart of Midtown, Gateway Midtown is set to be Resiance’s largest project to date featuring 638 units.

Already sold out of its first phase, Gateway Midtown promises to be the ultimate in inner-city living from the luxurious contemporary suites to the breathtaking city views.

“The response to Midtown is very encouraging and it’s exciting to be a part of our largest project to date. Our next two are definitely going to be on the smaller end of the scale, so this is a chance to experience the challenges and excitement of a large project.”

Earning a top spot among the city’s leading multi-family developers can largely be accredited to the level of involvement, says Chow.

“What we feel makes us good at what we do is our command of the process. We essentially act as our own general contractor, which leads us to be thoroughly involved in every one of our designs,” says Chow.

From the initial design stage to the final construction phase, Resiance Corporation has control over all aspects of each project which shows their attention to detail along with the commitment to see the project through.

“Every single aspect of building a project is under our control. We don’t just design the project, we have to execute it. That process naturally imposes certain disciplines, which are good disciplines to have.”

With the homebuilding industry facing so many challenges these days, it’s imperative to think outside the box, he adds.

“These have been very challenging times to maintain the same standards we have always been so proud of. We have succeeded at doing so because we realize the challenge isn’t just in maintaining those standards. Now it’s about finding novel solutions to old problems.”  CL
