Picture a ski chalet or a country cabin - a retreat filled with warmth and comfort – hear the sounds of a crackling fire, smell the smell of delicious food and feel the nurturing ambiance.

You are warm and toasty inside, while outside a blanket of snow envelopes the landscape and temperatures plummet below zero. Now you can experience that cozy feeling within the city limits – with Sabal Chalet. “Essentially the Sabal Chalet is about being away from it all, but still in your own home,” says Brenda Kelly, multifamily sales and marketing manager for Sabal Homes.

Located in the heart of Hopewell’s award winning community of Copperfield, the Sabal Chalet will comprise 100 townhomes that capture the essence of chalet living. With heritage urban exterior styling, a choice of five floor plans and interior design by Connie Young of Ce De Ce Designs, these homes exude great curb appeal along with an interior warmth that beckons to those looking for a peaceful respite away from the daily grind.  “We wanted to bring a very urban European flair to a suburban multifamily residential project,” says Connie Young of Ce De Ce. “Everything had to be really fresh and clean and European inspired in its simplicity, yet with a sense of warmth created through contrast and texture.”

Townhomes are offered in three different sizes ranging from 18 feet wide to 20 feet wide to 24 feet wide with square footages ranging form 1256 to 1753. The 18 and 20 foot wide designs are essentially the same layout  – with two bedrooms, laundry on the second floor and the option of a double master – the 20 foot home is just wider and bigger and offers a double car garage instead of a single. Both designs feature a back covered porch that flows onto green space. Two floor plans are available – one that features a middle kitchen design, the other featuring the kitchen at the front of the home.

If you are looking for a little more space, then check out the 24-foot model. Details include a double car garage, an electric fireplace in the living room, three bedrooms, two and a half baths and a walk out basement backing directly onto Wildflower pond. “We have tried to make the selection process very easy for people,” says Brenda Kelly.

Standard features include laminate hard wood and ceramic tile on the main floor, Berber carpeting upstairs, nine foot ceilings on the main floor, pot lights galore, European floating style cabinet and vessel sink in the main floor powder room, subway tile backsplash and a stunning custom wood kitchen island. “We have upgraded the spec package so everything is just a little bit higher quality,” says Kelly.

Buyers have a choice of three palettes: Canadiana, Provence and Scandia. “We took the idea of a very urban chalet and then created three separate identities influenced by global design. We wanted to give the buyer a lot of variety to match their own personal aesthetics,” explains Young.

Copperfield is located just 30 minutes from downtown via the Deerfoot.  The Sabal Chalet will be surrounded by a pond, walking pathways, an open park and a community center with tennis courts and an ice rink. Schools, shopping and a proposed LRT station are five minutes away in McKenzie Towne.

“We have had a spectacular amount of interest,” says Tabi Lam, sales specialist in Copperfeild.  “Customers say that they are pleasantly surprised by the spec package.”  In fact, so pleasantly surprised she says that Phase 1 sold out in three days! Homes start at $264,900 plus GST.  CL
