A taste of the ‘Old South’ in the new northeast
Condo sales are reaching new heights in the northeast’s newest community of Taralake that recreates the aura of the Old South through its classic, timeless home styles while providing proximity to all important modern conveniences.
The area’s multi developer, Renascence Developments Corporation, couldn’t have asked for a better beginning. The company’s first multi-family condominium apartment project, Taralake Place, sold out earlier this year in a couple of months’ time while the company’s newest and second community in the area, Taralake Junction, has been selling like hot cakes since sales opened late August this year.
"We are so grateful for the overwhelming reception we have received from Calgarians,” says Sales Manager Lisa Thomas.
“They say that markets have cooled down a bit in Calgary, but I am experiencing an increased demand for multi-family housing. As many single family homes become out of reach, people are seeing the multi-family market as a solution to their housing needs.”
At both Taralake Junction and Taralake Place, priced in the $200,000s, first-time home buyers and downsizers have been leading the rush.
Inspired by Greek architecture and conforming to the Old South theme, Taralake Place had 145 apartment-style condominiums on offer. A similarly designed Taralake Junction offers 128 units with a wide selection of one bedroom, one bedroom plus den, two bedrooms, and two bedroom plus den plans available. It comprises two separate, four-storey buildings and a total of nine floor plans, with the largest covering an area of 1,035 square feet.
All homes come with a balcony that will open to spectacular mountain and city views on one side and views of the pond, lush landscape and volleyball courts on the other.
There are two levels of finishings: Standard and a Gold package that upgrades the carpet, cabinets and tile. Standard package includes five appliances (black or white), nine-foot ceilings, a storage spot and a choice of heated underground parking or surface parking with a plug in. All in all, there’s a great deal of flexibility to meet a large range of tastes and budgets.
In an effort to keep the home buying experience uncomplicated and stress-free, prospective buyers work with only two professional throughout the entire process, says Thomas. All of the selections are also completed on site to save repeat trips, she adds.
A new subdivision of Taradale, Taralake has been master planned by Genesis Land Development Corp. Moved by the history and beauty of Savannah, Charleston and New Orleans, they bring a refreshing community theme to Calgary. Greek Revival, Italianate, French and Victorian architecture are reflected in design features like the front verandas, grand pillars, window shutters, stonework and other architectural elements.
The 8.5 acre pond is the central feature, surrounded by lush landscaping, pathways, and a beach volleyball and recreation court. All this and more in a highly desirable location – only 15 minutes from downtown Calgary and ten minutes to the Calgary International Airport. The community also enjoys proximity to major traffic corridors, the Peter Lougheed General Hospital, Sunridge Shopping Centre and the C-Train, which is being extended to the Westwinds Industrial Park (only a five-minute drive away).
Spurred by the phenomenal success in Taralake, Renascence is considering another multi-family project in a similar Calgary location. Taralake Place is expected to be ready for possession by the spring of 2007 and Taralake Junction by the fall of the same year.
With only a handful of opportunities remaining to call Taralake Junction home, there is not a moment to waste. The presentation centre, located on the Taravista Drive close to the Taralake Park, is open from noon to 5 p.m., seven days a week. CL
