Striking gold in CopperWood
If location is the be-all-end-all in real estate, then CopperWood is golden
Like distinctive art deco steps rising to the sky, the pyramidal structure of CopperCrown is the crowning jewel of the award-winning CopperWood condo complex that has become one of the most sought after properties in the city.
Perched on a ridge at the edge of the Shaganappi Point Golf Course in a secluded area of Spruce Cliff in the southwest, the nine-storey CopperCrown is the final phase of the CopperWood project by Sandlewood Developments and is the only concrete, high-rise structure in the 13-building complex.
But what makes it so appealing isn’t just its distinct architectural form, nor its decidedly upscale furnishing and finish, but its one-of-a-kind location on the edge of a golf course, surrounded by mature trees with a commanding view of the entire Bow River valley.
It is quiet and secluded with a surreal tranquility that seems worlds away from the urban bustle, but it really isn’t, as it remains just a leisurely half-hour walk to the downtown.
In these trying days of the economic downturn, condominium projects need all the edge they can get to distinguish themselves from the crowd, and the 13-building project that sits on 16 acres of prime land in the inner city near the Bow River does so with aplomb.
“Our location bordering the golf course in the inner city appeals to a lot of our clients. We have terrific views of the downtown and the whole river valley and the mountains, but getting to the core remains just a five minute drive by car or a half-hour walk through the bike path system that borders our property,” says Marketing Director Carla Hackman.
The view from their ninth floor penthouse is just breathtaking. “You get an unobstructed view of the entire Bow River valley and the best thing about it is you know nothing’s going to be built anywhere near that will block the view,” she adds.
Their great location is just part of why CopperWood has been a spectacular success, as the 2002 SAM Award winner (best low-rise project for over 50 units) is all but sold out and Hackman says 50 per cent of CopperCrown itself has already been snapped up.
“CopperCrown appeals to all demographics due to our diversity in floor plans and range of price points,” Hackman says, pointing out they have units ranging in price from around $220,000 to up to $1.7 million, from 600-square-foot suites for single, first time buyers up to estate/executive penthouses.
“Many empty nesters are attracted to us for the maintenance-free lifestyle we offer and professionals who work downtown appreciate our proximity to the core,” she adds.
CopperWood also offers a 4,500-square-foot amenity building with various rooms, and an exercise facility on the second level. It also has two-storey patios to create seasonal space and versatility to your personal or entertaining needs.
Other amenities include an owners’ overnight guest suite, heated underground parkade (one parking stall per home), a secured owners storage area with individual caged lockers, bicycle storage, and a car wash bay.
“Beyond the village-like feel we’ve created at CopperWood, you’ll find every other amenity you could ever need: shopping, restaurants, schools, childcare, auto service, library, as well as medical and dental facilities nearby,” Hackman adds. CL
