In your golden years wouldn’t it be nice to live in a community that is maintenance-free, offers incredible amenities and provides an excellent venue for socializing and enjoying the company of others? Imagine fine dining, exciting day trips and a feeling of safety and security. It may sound like a five-star hotel, but it’s actually one of the Manor Village Life Centers provided by the Statesman Group Of Companies Ltd. The recent Grand-Opening of The Manor Village at the Lakes of Rocky Ridge gave the public a chance to see what this elegant independent seniors’ project has to offer, and they weren’t disappointed.

These apartment-style condos are situated in Calgary’s North West in the beautiful community of Rocky Ridge. With views of downtown from one angle, and the majestic Rockies from another, this Manor Village community offers more than just aesthetic architecture to please the eye. Of course the nearby fountain and storm water ponds set in a gorgeous green park with elegant seating and gazebo are also easy on the eyes, as well as offering a nice place to get out and stretch your legs. Only minutes from shopping and a short drive from the mountains, Rocky Ridge is definitely a great place to settle in and enjoy life within a “Community with Heart”.

This community with heart is just that, with staff who genuinely care about the residents and work hard to build relationships within the community. One resident is so proud of this community that he has become a spokesperson for the Rocky Ridge Manor Village. Charles Fenske was the seventh resident to move into the community, and has dubbed it “Seventh Heaven”.

“Everything is so gorgeous that it really is heaven,” says Charles. “When I first came here and had a meal in the dining room it was just like dining at the Palliser Hotel.” He says. Charles says that the only problem with moving here is that he’s putting on weight due to the excellent food at the Medallion Dining Room. “We have lots of fun here though,” says Charles. “We have our own bus service and we go out of town usually a couple times a month.

We have a wonderful coordinator who has taken us out to Banff and Canmore and other interesting places.” He adds. He says that in the beginning, residents were unsure about the outings, but that now everyone lines up to make sure they are first on the list when the excursions are posted. Charles is also convinced that residents of Manor Village will benefit in the long-run from this lifestyle, as well as enjoying the moment. “Everyone in here will probably add another five to six years onto our lifespan. I’m sure of it.” says 81 year old Charles.

Charles might be right considering that the Manor Village Life Centers provide an excellent health care program. The Wellness center focuses on preventative measures to ensure good health, with a variety of wellness clinics and guest speakers on some of the more prevalent topics. As well, there is an emergency call and response system 24 hours a day that every suite can utilize at the touch of a button, along with a speech device in the Master bedroom and an emergency pull cord in the washroom. A waterproof pendant further ensures the safety of tenants at all times, enabling them to have the independent lifestyle they desire while providing the added security of knowing that help is only minutes away if it is needed.

That is the great thing about living in a community like this; the independent living style that allows residents to enjoy life to the fullest. Some of the great amenities that are available include the fitness center and spa, a beauty salon, the library and games room, and even the Grand Theatre. This Theatre shows movies at certain times of the week, and doubles for a comfortable place to have church services at others. The opportunities and activities provided at this Manor Village are virtually endless. Another benefit to living this lifestyle is that there is a camaraderie that can be shared between residents. You can choose between the privacy of your own suite, or enjoy the companionship of other residents in the common areas. It’s all up to you. Once you visit the Rocky Ridge Manor Village, you’ll be wondering what it would be like to experience this great lifestyle. This particular Life Center is located at 450 Rocky Vista Gardens NW, or you can check out their website at http://www.themanorvillage.com and see what independent living can be like.
