Urban village styling: a key feature of Marda Loop condo

If you dream it, they will come.

That was the idea the developers of Dream – the aptly named Marda Loop urban village that is becoming a reality this summer as construction crews begin the process of creating one of the most unique blends of urban condos and townhomes in Calgary.

Located on a choice piece of real estate bordering Garrison Woods, Dream will house an eclectic mix of apartment style one and two bedroom urban condos, two storey garden townhomes and garden bungalows, 77 units in all, enveloping a beautifully landscaped courtyard.

But the original dream didn’t actually begin that way – the developers of Dream had larger plans in mind, planning to build a project with 112 units. But in discussions with community groups and Marda Loop improvement committees, the Dream project took the unprecedented step of adapting the plans to meet the wishes and dreams of the area’s residents. Finding a balance between a successful business venture and responsible corporate citizen resulted in the final plans for the urban village, which has been praised for its ingenuity, sensibility and savvy design.

Convenient location is the major drawing card. Dream homeowners can walk to Safeway, Starbucks, pick up their drycleaning, and rent a movie, all the necessities of a busy life literally a few steps away.

The attraction of the close proximity of downtown is enhanced by the true neighbourhood flavor and friendliness found in the burbs but without the drive or the lawnmower!

The Dream urban condos and suites are situated at the north end of the project in a handsome four-storey building.  Buyers have a tremendous choice of suite   unit layout - one bedroom plus den “dream condos” ranging in size from 592 – 674 square feet, or the two bedroom/2 bath “dream suites” which are 761 – 948 square feet in size.  Pricing on the Dream condos (one bedroom/den) start from the $160s with the Dream suites (two bedroom/2bath) starting in the low $200s.

The 1050 square foot “garden” townhomes are two storeys and they are priced in the $250s. There are only five of these units left so don’t wait!

All units in Dream come with the convenience of underground parking, a full appliance package (including washer and dryer) and gas fireplace. Owners have the delightful choice of ceramic tile in the kitchen and bath and – most unusual – up to four paint colours are included in the standard package – allowing for feature walls that customize the home for each individual buyer.

The appeal of Dream has resulted in a leaping sales chart. The sales centre just opened in April and already the project in over 70 per cent sold. That leaves room for several more Calgarians who want to make their dreams come true. Buyers will move into their dream homes next summer, but for now they can be content stopping in at the show suite located at 2420 - 34th Ave SW just north of the Safeway in Garrison Woods. Show suite hours are Saturday and Sunday 12 - 5 p.m. and Monday to Friday 4:30 - 8p.m. And no you are not dreaming - the suite is open Fridays.
