Buyers of all ages are finding themselves comfortably at home in Streetside Development Corporation’s latest condominium community in Okotoks.

Situated in the neighbourhood of Westmount, directly across from stores including Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart and down the street from scores more, Tucker Hill residents reap the benefits of country living with easy access to urban creature comforts.

Just 136 homes are slated for Tucker Hill, the lion’s share offering the comfort of single-level living in bungalow villas, paired with the peace of mind of maintenance-free condo ownership. A handful of two-storey townhomes are also still available and seem to be piquing the interest of younger buyers who recognize their value.

“The location — right across the street from the commercial district — really fits in with the busy lifestyles of young singles and couples and empty-nesters,” says Wendy Jabusch, sales manager for Streetside Development Corporation. “They may have different goals for their spare time, but they do have plans for how they’ll spend it and convenience is definitely important.”

Spanning around 1,300 square feet, the tri-level townhomes offer choices of two-bedroom and two-bath, three-bedroom or two-bedroom-and-loft plans for top floors, paired with large dining, kitchen and living spaces spread out over another two, as well as attached garages, more space in basements and a patio, plus a balcony. Remaining townhomes are currently priced in the $180,000s including GST.

The third and final phase of Tucker Hill has recently been released, offering six styles of bungalow villas complete with single or double attached garages.

Would-be residents can tour a pair of bungalow show suites, the 1,151-square-foot Verano and the 1,314-square-foot Carerra, for a taste of how their own Tucker Hill address will be appointed. The former is a testament to standard features — from a full kitchen appliance package, including Bosch-brand ceran-top cooktop and built-in wall oven, California knockdown ceilings, 3-1/2-inch baseboards and door casings, to a spectrum of choices for paint and cabinetry.

The Carerra illustrates upgrades buyers can craft into their own bungalow abodes, including maple-and-iron staircases to below, elegant hardwood underfoot, a formal up-front dining room framed by pillars, and an optional fireplace and TV niche in the main living space. Both show homes boast walk-out basement development, demonstrating how residents can add to their already well-appointed and planned spaces and use the extra square footage for games, media and sleeping quarters.

“They are very open plans with good use of space — before you walk in you would never expect how much room there is inside,” says Matt Arnold, Tucker Hill sales associate.

A slightly smaller, 1,009-square-foot Tesoro is a third option in the current phase, boasting two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and more developable area at the basement level. The next phase will also offer new designs spanning from 1,080 to 1,125 square feet, with the same handsome, heritage-inspired exteriors gracing Phases 1 through 3.

“The exterior appearance makes it look like a community, not just a cookie-cutter group of homes,” says Jabusch, adding Georgian, Craftsman and Victorian elevations in a plethora of coulours are blended to keep the streetscape interesting.

Bungalow villas in Tucker Hill are priced starting in the $210,000s plus GST.

Also on Tucker Hill’s horizon is a gazebo, which will provide an ideal entertaining spot for neighbours to invite friends and mingle with each other over a barbeque. Pathways and a storm retention pond are also slated for the surrounding community, and provide a buffer for Tucker Hill residents from exterior traffic noise.

To get to Tucker Hill, take Deerfoot Tr. (Hwy. 2) south to Highway 2A, take the Okotoks turn-off and follow to the Westmount entrance at Westland St. Follow the signs to Tucker Hill. Show home hours are Monday to Thursday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays and weekends, noon through 5 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.mytuckerhill.com.
