What's the first thing that catches your eye? Is it the rows of sun-kissed trees stretching out before you, or the not-so-distant outline of the Canadian Rockies?

The view makes you forget that you’re only 20 minutes away from the Calgary city limits and the hectic bustle of a big city life. Instead you picture yourself enjoying the expansive green space and walking paths just steps outside your front door. You picture yourself pulling the curtains aside to allow the rays of sun beaming over mountaintops to dance across your furniture. This dream of yours—settling down in a quiet and charming neighbourhood, is within arms reach at Sunset Ridge—and you haven’t even heard the prices yet.

With Calbridge’s standard townhomes in the Sunset Pointe phase starting at just $313,900, you can’t go wrong, especially when Calbridge gets it so right. The Santorini show suite lends itself nicely to the quiet lifestyle Sunset Pointe provokes. A single attached garage, spacious floor plan, large low-E windows throughout and a walkout basement make this model any buyer’s paradise.

“Whether you’re first time home buyers, a family, empty nesters or executives, you’ll love this lock-and- go, maintenance-free community,” says Beth Popadynetz, multi-family sales specialist for the builder. The low condo fees (ranging from $146 to $163 per month) aren’t bad either.

In addition, the overwhelming process of home purchasing is eased with a Style Selections System in which 27 colour boards are available for interior choices, not including hardware selection boards and exterior colour boards. Whatever your taste, be it western, traditional or contemporary, the colour boards developed by professional designers have a fit for you.

First impressions are key in show suites and this 1,725-square-foot, three-bedroom/two-and-a-half bath town-home impresses with a contemporary sleek design, while still creating a warm and homey balance. When you first enter the wide foyer, it’s the back wall of windows which catches your eye, but you’ll soon be distracted by the nine-foot main floor ceilings, espresso stained kitchen cabinets, shimmering granite countertops, and chic natural gas fireplace. The home defines its spaces—dining room from kitchen, kitchen from great room—while maintaining a sense of flow. Trendy glass tiles grace the backsplash and the stainless appliances pop against the dark-stained cabinets. Monotone décor in whites, greys and browns fashion a tranquil scene, drawing your attention past the balcony to the open green space shared among the homes.

Beyond the plush carpet on standard eight-pound underlay, the upper floor features two spare bedrooms, each with double-swing closet doors (leaving bi-fold closet doors in the past), as well as an upper laundry room and tech centre with a built-in desktop. The master suite boasts a four-piece ensuite and generous walk-in closet. The attention to detail is clear throughout the home—right down to the master suite’s walk-in closet, which includes a practical venting.

The detail is continued with other touches from smooth doors, wide baseboards and casing, modern plumbing fixtures and hardware, to iron spindled railings and bathroom vanities with drawers and cabinets. The family-owned builder, which has been in business for 31 years, doesn’t let small details slip through the cracks, says Popadynetz. Built-in cabinetry and basement development are just examples of what Calbridge buyers can have customized. The premier builder in the Hamptons community in Calgary for 18 years, the builder has proven having high standards for construction keeps drawing repeat clientele back.

Roberta Zimmerman, Calbridge sales associate, says not to discount Cochrane when considering your next community. “The simple lifestyle, lack of crime, and short commute to downtown Calgary makes Cochrane an ideal choice.”

Sunset Ridge will eventually house the Trading Post, a community retail centre offering a grocery store, retail shops and professional services. It may have been the proximity to the mountains that first brought you to Cochrane, but it could just be smart home designs and exceptional value that will keep you there.
