Sabal uncorks Chalet their stylish twist on the townhome

Inspired by the rustic warmth of an alpine retreat, Sabal Homes’ Chalet, the award-winning builder’s new line of townhomes in Copperfield, proves once again that suburban can be smart, sexy and, of course, uncommonly stylish.

Chalet is everything a modern townhome should be, with its laid back vibe and bright, open concept design. But more than that, it has a classic European tilt to it that makes it both family-friendly and hip at the same time.

"It has a very palpable Alpine feel, a mountain resort design that creates the perfect backdrop for today's lifestyle-oriented homeowner," says Sabal Homes' marketing manager, Kendra Milne.

The concept has been so successful that this will be the third Chalet complex that Sabal has built over the last few years, and the second in the very popular southeast community of Copperfield.

"Chalet has been so well received, the first development in Copperfield sold out in a flash and the last one in Creekside was just as successful," she says. In sports, it's kind of like going for a three-peat, and only a few very special teams have done that, which just goes to show how special Sabal Homes is.

A grand opening for the Chalet was held on January 23 and reception has been great. One look inside and it's easy to see why. The spacious designs are enhanced by oversized windows, nine-foot ceilings and floors covered in high quality plank-style laminate hardwood and tile - all standard features. And the kitchens are a knockout, with their wood cabinetry and custom-design islands. The inclusion of pot lots and a choice of black or stainless steel appliances in the kitchen add to the beauty of the design.

"We have already sold 10 of the 29 released for Phase I. We're aiming for a fast turnaround time and will break ground in March for the first possessions this year."

There are four new floor plans to choose from, ranging in size from 1,313 square-feet to 1,443 square-feet. All feature modern, open designs that translate well across a wide variety of lifestyles from singles, to couples to young families and downsizers. Most plans have attached single or double car garages and all include full length private driveways.

Upstairs, master bedrooms are large enough for king-sized beds. She says double master bedroom models are getting popular in this home type. "We have lot of singles and downsizing couples that need just one guest bedroom, first time single buyers also look at this option as a way to support their mortgage by renting to a roommate," she says.

"Regardless, there is plenty of flexibility in the Chalet designs that can accommodate changes in lifestyles," Milne adds. "It has something for everyone and shows buyers an exciting alternative to renting or to living in apartment condos."

More importantly, with prices starting in the $270,000s, it is a very affordable choice. "It certainly has incredible value in its starting price point," Milne adds. "It offers a winning combination of the conveniences of a townhome condominium with the standard features and finishes today's homeowners are looking for," Milne says.

Beyond all of the physical features of these townhomes, the location in southeast Calgary's popular community of Copperfield is a huge draw. Developed by Hopewell Residential Communities, Copperfield is a community bursting with colour and character and became one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods in the area since development began back in 2002.

It features central neighbourhood parks, tot lots, a wetland environmental reserve, pathways, toboggan hill, sports fields, generous curvilinear streets and boulevards. Future development includes three school sites, a central community centre site and a neighbourhood shopping plaza.

"Residents will be occupied by amenities such as shopping, walking paths, ponds, the community centre, convenient access to major routes and so much more."

Chalet offers value you can afford, Milne says. "The sizes of the homes, the top quality finishes and the price make it a complete package. We haven't seen these kind of prices for a couple of years," she adds, pointing out that early bird buyers are sure to enjoy an even more generous deal.
