A new kind of downtown living comes to Calgary, as Waterfront by Anthem Properties makes its mark on the scenic side of Cowtown’s core, where vibrant city life and nature’s serenity meet.

Downtown Calgary is a major financial hub of the Canadian West, and it is fast becoming an enviable residential address as well. Waterfront has been at the forefront of this new attitude by creating a place where people can easily find the joys of a relaxed, stylish and convenient urban life where they can balance a healthy lifestyle and professional career.

Waterfront focuses on the ‘life simplified’ concept, where you can spend more time doing the things you love and less time stuck in traffic.

“For people working downtown, less commuting means they can spend time with friends and family, enjoy the river amenities and have time to do whatever makes them tick,” says Waterfront sales manager, Melanie Briggs.

Waterfront, being developed by reputable Vancouver-based developer Anthem Properties, sits on 5.2 acres of prime riverfront land right in the beating heart of Calgary’s downtown. It is located between the serenity of Prince’s Island Park and the Bow River pathways, and the vibrancy of Chinatown and Eau Claire Market.

“Waterfront is known for its ideal location. It is right on the river pathway and has all of the best that downtown has to offer. Waterfront truly is Calgary’s finest downtown address. We are a one-of-a-kind development offering the highest level of finishing and quality,” Briggs says. The towers are both over 20-storeys high and one can just imagine the gorgeous views from such an advantageous location.

People are really seeing the benefit of this lifestyle as the first of the planned three towers in Phase I of the development is already 90 per cent sold. While the second, which is in the middle of construction, is already 70 per cent accounted for. This is quite an accomplishment, considering that most of the sales were made during the past three years of economic turbulence.

“We had an incredible response to the first offering at Waterfront, as Tower 1 began selling in the fall of 2007. Last year we sold over 70 homes even in a declining market. Our purchasers truly see the value of a great location and a reputable, proven builder,” Briggs says.

“We offer incredible quality in the best location, hard to beat that. Savvy real estate purchasers understand the value of a strong location. You can analyze any city in the world and the most expensive land holdings are on the water or beside a major park. At Waterfront we have both of those benefits,” she adds.

Waterfront combines high quality design, luxurious amenities, riverfront views, and the convenience of proximity to your downtown job. There are a variety of residences to choose from, including one-bedroom units starting at 581 square-feet, to loft-bedroom combinations to townhomes and, sub-penthouses and penthouses. A one-bedroom plan starts at $329,900.

Briggs says there are a variety of floor plans to choose from, all are equipped in the most stylish finish commonly found in the modern high rises of New York, London, San Francisco and Vancouver.

Residents will also enjoy the use of approximately 6,000 square-feet of amenity space including a theatre, fully equipped fitness centre, entertainment lounge and concierge.

The first tower has 177 units and is close to being sold out, with first possessions slated later this summer. While the second has 133 suites and 139 of the ‘Flats’ — which Briggs says is a more compact suite with a very functional design.

“Tower 2 offers the same plans as Tower 1 but the podium is made up of a collection of ‘Flats’ which are an efficiently designed space found in cosmopolitan areas such as London and New York.” The presentation centre allows guests to walk through three of their display suites including a one-bedroom unit, two-bedroom residence and a one-bedroom flat.

Waterfront attracts purchasers from all different demographics — from recent university graduates looking to have an easy commute to work, to empty nesters looking to live in the heart of it all. “Sales have been steady and we expect sales to continue strong as the Calgary housing market continues on an upward trend,” Briggs adds.

“People are craving life a little more simplified. They are eliminating the unnecessary commute, the snow blowing, the lawn mowing and opting for a new life full of doing all of the things they love because living at Waterfront means that now, they have the time to do it.”
