Battistella brings a vivid change to up-and-coming First Street
Condominiums have become a mainstay in Calgary’s housing industry, and although their numbers have dramatically increased in the last couple of years, one company works hard to remain an innovative force in the industry. Battistella Developments has been designing unique homes in Calgary’s inner city communities for nearly 30 years, and now they have designed a building that is destined to become a brilliant architectural landmark in our city’s beltline.
Colours will be a 23-storey high-rise tower designed to be a vivid focal point on First Street S.W., an area that is currently undergoing revitalization on a momentous scale. The two-storey mosaic coloured glass wall feature will definitely be a head-turner, as it rises above the first two floors of retail space and highlights the contemporary architecture of this spectacular building. Glen Deibert, Sales Manager for Colours, says that the unique exterior mirrors the interior and the suites, themselves. “Even though there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the economy, people still need a place to live that suits their lifestyle so why not live somewhere unique and creative that adds value to your purchase,” says Deibert. “Nine-and-a-half-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall glass windows, polished concrete floors and moveable glass partitions all add to the distinctive design of these stylish suites.” Every attention to detail is given to an assortment of imaginative design features, and standards such as stainless-steel appliances, luxurious granite countertops and European-style fixtures, will appeal to even the most discerning buyer.
Offering 208 units and 11 different floor plans, this pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use building has units ranging from 650 to 955 square-feet, and for those who prefer to live the high life there will also be ten uniquely designed penthouses occupying the top two floors of this incredible building. Purchasers will appreciate the abundance of on-site features and amenities, such as keyless entry; video-surveillance security; heated underground parking; and an additional two stories of parking on the second and third levels tucked away behind the colourful glass mosaic. The main level will feature a new concept coffee and dessert store and a bubble tea shop named Atomic.
Also on the verge of opening on First Street are boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Currently there is a Starbucks, Giuseppe’s Italian Market, Atomic, Bloke’s Clothing and other retailers.
This area of the Beltline has a lot to offer in the way of a residential location, and Colours By Battistella gives buyers a great opportunity to live in a fabulous, cool and contemporary building. “It’s time to think about living life to the fullest; enjoying your life and your home while living in an amazing downtown location,” says Deibert. “While many buyers are focusing on hitting the bull’s-eye for buying at the ‘right’ time—developers are pulling back and halting projects and not applying for new permits. Meanwhile, demand is currently being pent up as people wait and watch, and one day people are either going to look back and think ‘Am I ever glad I bought in ’08’ or they are going to say ‘Man, I wish I bought in ’08’. The only way you’ll know if you bought at the best time is with hindsight; when the prices are higher and you’ve already missed out on an opportunity. There may be other condos, but there is only one Colours By Battistella.”
