Stonecroft comes back to Calgary in a big way in the family-friendly neighbourhood of Copperfield with a new multi-family development that promises to be a perfect merging of quality, value and affordability. And if its opening weekend is any indication, they have a certified hit on their hands.

Stonecroft is turning up the heat in Calgary’s multi-family housing market with a 45-townhome development ‘Stonecroft at Copperfield’, it’s first new undertaking in the city since 2008. It has at least three other major developments in the city in various stages of planning, as the B.C.-based developer is confident that Calgary will be enjoying renewed growth.

“After the economic difficulties of the last couple of years, Calgary is again on its way to becoming a major growth area in the west and we want to be part of that growth,” Stonecroft sales manager in Calgary, Bob Carmichael, tells Condo Living. “We already have plans for a second development in Copperfield and another one in the community of Auburn Bay, also in the southeast.”

After a whirlwind opening weekend that saw them sell 15 residences, including selling out their one-bedroom units in the first phase in the process, Stonecroft’s faith in Calgary seems well founded.

Stonecroft in Copperfield is ideally suited to fit Calgary’s growth plans with its stacked townhomes design, which is perfect for singles and young families just starting out in life.

“We’re really excited to offer these plans, they’re very innovative and are designed to maximize the use of all space,” Carmichael says.

“The development itself won’t be so high-density that overcrowding becomes a problem, but at the same time it fits with the City’s Plan It program with its terrific location close to all amenities and transportation routes as well as green spaces.”

There will be a total of 11 buildings that will go up on the corner of Copperpond Boulevard and Copperpond Heights, right across from parks, walking paths and green spaces, altogether an environment that inspires an active lifestyle and a strong communal bond.

Part of the second Copperfield development will duplicate a stacked townhome style that sold out on the opening weekend for the current project. They will be multi-level with a two-storey home on the upper level and a single level plan underneath with an option to develop the basement. Eight exciting floor plans are offered in this design ranging from a one-bedroom, 510-square-foot single level home (plus undeveloped basement) to a 1,200-square-foot two-bedroom with two and a half bathroom model on two levels.

“These plans offer a lot of exciting opportunities for singles, who can rent out the second bedroom to help with mortgage payments, or for extended families with aging parents who can live nearby, or for families with college-age kids who require their own private space,” Carmichael says.

All units also come with one covered parking space but some additional stalls are also available for purchase.

With opening prices that started at $189,900 for the two-storey upper level unit, Stonecroft at Copperfield does present a very affordable option for multi-family living. “We can honestly say that we are the most affordable townhome development in the area,” Carmichael says.

Stonecroft stands as one of the best known multi-family developers in the city, having made a name for itself with a number of quality townhomes and condos in Harvest Hills, Evergreen, Arbour Lake, Cedarbrae, and even in Chestermere. “We have previous buyers who are really excited about this new development, who want to get their children into a Stonecroft home because they know that it is a name that stands for quality and affordability.”

Its location in Copperfield is also a distinct advantage. “We are close to all amenities, and with the South Calgary Hospital going up just down the road, this is an ideal home for doctors, interns, nurses and staff. Homes here will also retain their value over time because of its proximity to the new hospital as well as the shopping centres on 130th Avenue S.E. and the unique shops in High Street,” Carmichael adds.
