Opulent Oslo: Centron towers in the Beltline
Being good to the earth never looked this good
The two twin towers will rise majestically from the vivacious heart of Calgary’s Beltline District.
They will offer sweeping city views in a modern setting, along with a lifestyle perfectly suited to your standards and style.
But this lifestyle is like no other. If thinking about the environment is important to you, then you’re sure to be right at home at Oslo at Kai Towers by Homburg-Centron Teamworks—Calgary’s first multi-story Built Green™ project, where it’s easy to indulge in your desire to treat the earth more kindly.
With the “Think Green” concept at the forefront, each of the 458 units among the 32- and 28-storey towers comes equipped with the latest in eco-friendly technology, such as Energy Star appliances, low-E double-sealed windows, and dual-flush low water consumption toilets.
In-suite recycling bins and a central recycling centre make it impossible not to recycle, while compact florescent light bulbs and a programmable thermostat reduce energy costs to the individual homeowner.
The building itself uses recycled materials such as studs made from recycled steel and hardwood flooring made from sustainable raw materials.
A big feature of the project is its literally green rooftop patio, where residents can come and take a time out from the day in a garden-like setting without leaving the building. The garden is self-sustaining and will use harvested rainwater to keep the plants looking their best. Initiatives such as this incorporated into the exclusive high-rise helps residents enjoy lower condo fees, which means more of the green stuff stays in their pockets.
“We just felt that going green was important—it’s something we had hoped to do for a long time,” says Allison Clark, sales and marketing manager of The Centron Group. “This project is a really good opportunity for us to make a difference and help change building practices within our growing city. There are a lot of things we can all do to help the environment and this is the proper direction to go.”
Aside from the obvious green features, Oslo caters to a variety of lifestyles. Amenities in the building include a multi-use room for both entertainment and business needs, a state-of-the-art fitness and rejuvenation area for yoga and health buffs, and mixed- use ground floor retail space for all your shopping needs.
Inside, the units, which range in size from 536 square-feet to 1,607 square-feet, and start in the $350,000s, are definitely a class act, with stone countertops, a glass vessel basin in the bathroom and a unique woven-vinyl floor that looks similar to straw.
Hardwood flooring is a standard feature in each home, along with stainless steel appliances and a unique resin tone backsplash that resembles pebbles.
Nine-foot ceilings and ten-foot ceilings in penthouse suites give each unit an incredible sense of space, while the floor-to-ceiling windows in the main living area offer enough natural light to grow your own garden indoors.
With its close proximity to the culture centre of Calgary, dining, shopping, entertainment and the scenic Bow River pathway are right outside your door, it’s no wonder Oslo is attracting buyers between 25 and 35 years of age, eager to get their hands on a distinctive urban home.
“The location is definitely a huge draw for anybody,” says Clark. “We are also finding that the sustainable features are attracting the younger demographic who have a strong interest and value in the future of their environment.”
Sales of Oslo began in December 2007, with construction set to be complete in 2010.
