Living in harmony: Valmont residences
Valmont residences pays homage to its natural surroundings
Hidden in the glen between the aspen trees and beside a natural pond lies Valmont at Aspen Stone in Calgary’s west end. Nestled in the trees is this multi-family development with a different approach to urban living—a place where you can put down roots in a rural setting but live only a 15-minute drive from the heartbeat of the city.
When WestCreek Developments and Today’s Communities began the planning of Valmont residences, they set out to preserve the natural setting of aspen woodlands and create homes in harmony with nature. Guided by the natural beauty of the region,
Valmont is comprised of four buildings, each with as many storeys, so as not to tower above the trees. Adorned with natural, earthy siding colours paired with cultured Coronado stone, these structures meld with the surrounding landscape.
“With a preserved aspen forest, tranquil pond and meandering pathways at your doorstep, the natural landscape at Valmont inspires a fresh look at city living,” says Erin Kerr, project and marketing co-ordinator for Valmont. “Just a stone’s throw from 17 Avenue S.W., it’s a vision that accommodates having all the amenities of the city at your fingertips, but also allows you to be completely removed from the hurried pace of the city.”
But Valmont proves itself to be more than just about its surroundings when you step inside the modern, luxurious and well-appointed homes. Upon completion there will be a total of 260 one and two-bedroom suites. Ranging in size from 704 square-feet to 1,418 square-feet (with 13 floor plans to select from) the choices are plentiful to find the exact home to fulfill most living needs. Standard features include a camera security system, heated underground parking, textured nine-foot ceilings to help achieve a spacious feel, and an electric fireplace. The large, open kitchens include complete stainless steel appliance packages and shaker-style maple or alder cabinetry.
“The natural landscape played such a key role in the inspiration for this project, it was only befitting that our interior specifications work in harmony with their surroundings. Here, the outdoors are reflected in four earth-inspired palettes, each with appealing open floor plans that encourage interaction between rooms and details that complment a high quality of life,” says Kerr.
Possession dates in the first building are scheduled for early 2009 with two-bedroom suites available from around $350,000 plus GST. The second building is slated for construction in 2009 and one-and two-bedroom units are currently priced from the $260,000s plus GST. Condo fees range from $216 to $421 monthly and include everything except electricity, phone, cable and personal insurance. This maintenance-free lifestyle will appeal to those with busy schedules who just want to come home and enjoy the many outdoor activities within the community.
Meandering along the winding paths or sitting on a bench overlooking the pond creates a world of relaxation and solitude away from the bustle of the city. And creature comforts are also never far, with local shops and shopping malls including Strathcona Square, Signal Hill and Westhills a short jaunt away. Meanwhile, even more retail venues and restaurants are slated for construction in the neighbourhood in the near future. The Westside Recreation Centre and Canada Olympic Park are also nearby, while natural outdoor activity hubs of Bragg Creek or K-Country are only a short driving distance away. CL
