Rockford is growing “wild” in Panorama

Two years ago, Wildstone was merely a vision of what townhome living in the popular northern community of Panorama would be. Today, it is the thriving reality of a successful multi-family development that has seen unprecedented growth through its focus on quality and the way of life it offers residents.

Wildstone’s success is made even more remarkable considering that it was launched in 2010 when the economy was still reeling from the recession. Now, there are only 80 units left in the 213-row townhome development, and sales are expected to hit another surge when two new show homes of their latest model are released this summer.

There are already three show homes in Wildstone: one of their 1,259-square-foot Alderwood , and two of the 1,132-square-foot Maldon. Two show homes of the 1,194-square-foot Sonoma will be opening by August at the latest. “They all show the full potential of what it would be like to have a townhome lifestyle in Panorama,” says Rockford’s marketing manager, Lana Campbell.

Wildstone has proven to be popular with “right sizers” and first time homebuyers, who are attracted by the top value they get for the very affordable price.

“For some reason, we seem to attract a lot of single women,” Campbell says. “I think it has to do with the feeling of security they get from the community itself and from the private garages each home has — at least they wouldn’t have to walk through dark, underground parkades to get to their vehicles.”

Speaking of garages, having this major convenience especially for first-time homeowners is one of the main advantages at Wildstone. “We have single and double-car garages, depending on the location of the unit and there are options to add another surface parking space,” she adds.

The convenience of having a basement also gives owners the flexibility to increase their living space and storage space, for whatever their needs entail, Campbell adds.

Wildstone is also getting a lot of interest from buyers who work at the nearby Calgary International Airport, as well as the surrounding industrial and commercial areas. Parents who are downsizing and want to remain in the neighbourhood have also found Wildstone an appealing option.

The price point is also a major reason for its success, as homes here start in the $260,000s, a price that has held steady since the project began two years ago.

The community itself is a peaceful enclave of green spaces and natural ravines, and the hilly topography gives terrific city and mountain views. The row townhome design of Wildstone takes full advantage of its 12-acre area and covered terraces over the garage offer a unique vantage point to enjoy the scenery.

“The new Sonoma show homes will be walk-outs that take full advantage of the natural topography,” Campbell tells Condo Living.

The chalet style features cedar shingle accents, durable vinyl siding and charming stone veneers to give the impression of an exclusive mountain getaway.

Wildstone has three models, including two brand new ones, and 13 floor plans, including two bedroom units with double ensuites. Units range from 1,163 to 1,259 square-feet. Features are anything but standard, Campbell says, and include energy-efficient and water saving appliances, structured wiring, spacious balconies or patios. “The only thing you won’t find at Wildstone is compromise,” she says.

“We give customers a fair bit of choice when it comes to customizing their units,” Campbell adds. “We don’t limit them to a few palettes to choose from, they can personalize their home to fit their lifestyle,” she says.

Rockford is a Calgary-based company that has designed and constructed more than 2,500 homes since 1991. It has developed an enviable reputation as a specialist in multi-family homes receiving top honours at the SAM Awards in 2003 and 2004 as multi-family builder of the year.
