It’s all about the easy life in Stonecroft’s Highland Park

The northeast community of Highland Park got its name from the area’s high elevation, and Stonecroft’s latest development aims to take the lifestyle here even higher with the supreme quality, design and value that this new apartment style condo will offer.

Sitting on a quiet hillside that offers spectacular views of the city below, Stonecroft’s Highland Park condominiums will set the new ideal in multi-family living in this inner-city neighbourhood, even as it highlights the obvious charms of the area.

The Stonecroft development will be unlike anything in the community — with its glass, steel and fibre cement siding, Highland Park will have a uniquely European-flavoured, modern exterior design. Think of it as a stylish, funky infill for the multi-family market.

“This is a special neighbourhood, it’s just off Centre Street so getting downtown is easy and convenient,” Stonecroft’s Calgary sales manager, Bob Carmichael, tells Condo Living. “Our upgraded standard specs can’t be matched anywhere for the price we offer.”

Buyers have already taken notice, snapping up 60 per cent of the 92-unit mid-rise building in the past few months since sales started. “I have one buyer who told me that he’s been all over town looking for a place for his parents, and he only found what he was looking for here in Highland Park,” Carmichael says.

He notes that Highland Park attracts a good mix of buyers, from investors to downsizers, but the majority are first time homebuyers. “A lot of them are professionals working downtown, which is just a short bus ride away, they don’t even have to bring their car to work.”

Available are one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den, and two-bedroom-with-den units ranging from 571 to 1,205 square-feet. Some units on the top floor even have vaulted ceilings following the atypical roof pitches.

Homes are spacious with modern interior and exterior design, and the ingenius floor layouts create a more functional, large feeling living space. Well thought out and strategic window placement allows natural light to flood your home. Expansive outdoor patios come with gas hook-ups for barbecues to create an environment that allows residents to fully enjoy the views.

There are nine different floor plans still available. Prices start at a very affordable $178,800, Carmichael says.

“And for that price, you get nine-foot ceilings, tile, carpet and laminate hardwood flooring, granite countertops, maple or cherry cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances — a really terrific standard that would probably cost an additional $20,000,” he says. “Not one of our Highland Park buyers has felt the need to upgrade at all.”

Residents also get heated underground parking plus bike storage in addition to their standard storage unit. Stonecroft is also paving a private driveway off 1st Street N.E. that will be fully landscaped with trees and shrubs that adds to the charm of the area. “Neighbours were really glad that we’re putting up this building, they say it will do a lot to improve the look of the neighbourhood.”

The community of Highland Park enjoys direct access to downtown via Centre Street and Edmonton Trail and has excellent access to regional bike pathways, and is near Confederation Park and Nose Hill Park.

Stonecroft stands as one of the best known multi-family developers in the city that made a name for itself with a number of quality townhomes and condos in Harvest Hills, Evergreen, Arbour Lake, Cedarbrae, and even in Chestermere. “We have previous buyers who are really excited about this new development, who want to get their children into a Stonecroft home because they know that it is a name that stands for quality and affordability.”

Carmichael says he expects Highland Park to be sold out in a relatively short time, and there wouldn’t be any need for a proper show suite to be built. “We expect first possessions by spring next year, and I think we’ll be pretty much sold out by then.”
