Roll out the red carpet, the stars have arrived!

The glamorous cast of Olivier, Monroe, Bogart, Cooper, Bergman, Lancaster and Hepburn all make up the exquisite 11-storey condominium that is, Oscar at Eau Claire.

At the epicentre of Hollywood northeast, Calgary’s Rodeo Drive, this architectural icon is designed with style and excellence. The striking modern architecture parallels an actual Academy Award and is defined with an elegant entrance and luxurious appointed lobby.

Located in the heart of prestigious Eau Claire, construction on the Oscar project is underway at 735 2 Avenue S.W. with the sixth floor concrete being poured. Minutes from trendy boutiques, Prince’s Island Park, renowned Eau Claire Market and downtown offices, the Oscar not only offers a rewarding lifestyle, it’s an elegant place to live.

“The Oscar is a great opportunity for buyers who have achieved some extraordinary measures of success in their lifetime and can now reward themselves by living in a prestigious building, in a prime location, with a grand theme and lifestyle,” says Ross Pavl, RE/MAX Real Estate Agent and owner of “The whole Oscar experience is based on sophistication and exclusivity. To achieve recognition in the field—it’s notoriety for what you’re able to do in your lifetime.”

The extravagant 11-storey, 30-unit building is comprised of four, two-storey townhouses on the main floor, three units per floor from floors three to ten, and two penthouses on the 11th floor.

The townhouses range from 1,338 to 1,510 square-feet and have ground-floor patios with direct access to the street—very rare in inner-city living. Floors three through ten have only three units per floor, ranging from 808 to 1,377 square-feet. The third-floor podium offers extra amenity space with additional outdoor living square-footage for entertaining and lounging. The penthouses are 1,655 and 1,756 square-feet.

“The pride of ownership entails relating to the very distinguished and classic Hollywood legends who epitomized grace, charm and worldliness on the silver screen. Add in the prime Eau Claire location and you get distinctive, contemporary living at it’s best,” adds Pavl.

The living space and potential for meeting space offers a corporate, executive style location. The building’s open-concept design primarily lines each suite with nine foot high, floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing in plenty of light.

“My favourite thing about the space is the openness of every suite. Calgary has a lot of light, and open concepts are contemporary,” adds Pavl. “The units are expansive and the kitchen glass countertop island is a prime focal point.”

Pavl also says the project is particularly interesting because of the limitations posed on the small parcel of land. “There were height restrictions in place, with the city not allowing any relaxations,” he says.

At the base, the freshly landscaped grounds and impressive Tyndall stone façade complete with brick detailing polish the building. There is one high-speed elevator, two levels of underground parking (one car stall per unit, penthouse residents get two each) and storage is in the lower level of the parking lot.

The interior is definitely in the running for best set decoration and interior design. The Oscar Development Group contracted Ela Rezmer of Vancouver for the interior hues. Residents can choose from tranquility or serenity concepts, one with darker and one with warmer wood. The colours include refreshing blues and greens and the rooms are furnished with only the best appliances. Award-winning kitchens and luxury designer baths are just a few of the modern twists in this extravagant inner-city fairytale.

So who are the buyers? “We have folks from Britannia, Mount Royal and all the way out to Elbow Valley looking to downsize and enjoy the amenities located in the heart of this vibrant city,” says Pavl.

This exclusive boutique building delivers sophisticated elegance in an upscale neighbourhood, with the award winning modern architecture showcasing a timeless classic—just like Monroe.

The move-in date for the Oscar is slated for February 2009.
