Streetside’s three-storey townhomes open in Redstone

Townhomes grow up in the new northeast community of Redstone — and we mean literally — as Streetside Developments unveil their three-storey Kintalla townhomes.

The need for more space has been the challenge in designing affordable multi-family homes, how to best maximize living space sensibly. Streetside believes the way to go is up.

With three levels to work with, the 73-unit Kintalla will be able to offer townhomes with up to four bedrooms, a first for the developer. Kintalla — whose name is inspired by a combination of words meaning family, community, and rhythm — is in fact the first townhome development to open in this latest community by Qualico.

“These are very different floor plans for us,” says Streetside sales manager, Ashley Carcasole. “We have never offered anything like this in the past.”

With a three-storey home and a single or tandem garage as standard, buyers have the option to put a fourth bedroom with a full bath on the entry level with a single car garage instead of the tandem. Carcasole says this is just what a lot of first time homebuyers are looking for: private spaces, lots of it.

The standard townhomes start at $239,000, and range in size from 1,249 to 1,327 square-feet, “The standard floor plans come with either two or three bedrooms, with two full bathrooms,” says Carcasole.

“But you can add a half-bath on the main floor and depending on the floor plan either a half or a full bathroom on the entry level when you add an extra bedroom or den,” she says.

They also have incredibly large sized living spaces, with 11-by-17-foot living rooms and 15-by-11-foot dining rooms that are large enough to accommodate a dinner party of up to eight people.

Streetside also brought further value into designing the building envelope of Kintalla by using a double wrap system that helps to prevent moisture penetration “This process, while expensive for us as a builder, offers priceless value to our homeowners who will have the comfort of mind that they are buying into a building that will be more watertight!”

What also sets Kintalla apart is its use of space inside and outside the home. “In most townhome projects there is a lot of concrete, residents look out onto concrete or out into another townhome,” says Carcasole. Kintalla is designed in such a way where much consideration has been given to this key component in multi-family living by having wider lanes in the development, this allows for more space in between the townhomes, and brings in more green space.

Carcasole says the added green space is important not just in terms of the livability and the long-term comfort of your home, but also creates a quieter space by breaking up sound transfer. By having the soft landscaping in and around the area, “it makes it feel more like a single family residential street.”

Residents also get to enjoy the many amenities of living in Redstone. “This is a great community from an access point of view, you have Stoney Trail and Deerfoot, you have a future LRT system location, and there is already transit service into the area,” says Carcasole.

And with SkyView Ranch just next-door residents here have easy access to schools, daycares, walk-in clinics, and a variety of shopping centres. “You already have all the shops and services of SkyView Ranch that are developed, and there are more coming into the Redstone community as well.” CrossIron Mills is also just down the road.
