Double feature: Red Haus

Red Haus by Streetside takes two multi-family SAMs

One of Alberta’s largest multi-family builders received recognition—twice—at the 2007 SAM Awards. Streetside Development Corporation was the recipient of two separate awards for its multi-building, apartment-style condo community Red Haus in Royal Oak.

The team behind Red Haus was thrilled to receive the multi-family community of the year award as well as the best new design, up to 799 square-feet, award.
“We’re really proud of (the multi-family community of the year) award especially, because it really shows how our company works together, right from design through construction and sales, plus our partners in supply and trades,” says Kendra Milne, marketing manager with Streetside.

Red Haus will comprise four buildings plus an amenities building as well as a large central courtyard. The first building, the Lindenberg, is complete, with the second building, the Salzburg, nearing completion. Construction will begin on the amenities building, which will include a small workout facility, games areas and meeting rooms, this summer, and the building will be complete in 2009. Full completion for the project is expected in late 2010.

“Being one of the largest multi-family communities under construction in Alberta right now, it’s really important to us that this project was recognized so early on,” says Milne.

Milne points out that several features of the project contributed to its success at this year’s awards. These include the exterior features such as the red, concrete-tiled roof and the courtyard, the design aspects meant to cut down on noise, and the variety of floor plans available.

The range of plans also contributes to the formation of real community, says Milne. “It takes a whole bunch of different kinds of people to make a community. The great thing about Red Haus is that it appeals to a bunch of different kinds of buyers.”

The best design award in the up to 799 square-feet category was in recognition of the “D726” floor plan. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom plan features an open concept layout with an abundance of windows for natural light, and includes a spacious walk-through closet, ensuite laundry, separate dining area, storage closet and private patio.

“The two awards in conjunction just show that every part of the project, from the exterior and the amenities to the interior features, design and layout has really been thought through from start to finish,” says Milne.

The Lindenberg, the first building released for sale, is 100 per cent sold out, and sales continue in the Salzburg. Condos at Red Haus in Royal Oak start at $199,900 for a one-bedroom floorplan, and units as large as 1,155 square-feet are available.

Two new show suites plus a sales office are due to open in July 2008 in the Salzburg; a number of spec units will also be available for viewing.

The suites will include the most desired Red Haus floor plans, including one- and two-bedroom layouts. As Milne explains, the new show and spec suites will “showcase the variety, selection and functionality of the designs available at Red Haus.”

Currently, a Streetside sales centre that includes all of the company’s northwest projects (Red Haus, Plaza and Blue Sky) is located in the Plaza townhome project across the street from Red Haus. This sales centre will remain open to showcase the Streetside townhome selection in the northwest once the new Red Haus sales centre opens to the public.

Interested buyers may visit http://www.redhausliving.com, or visit the sales centre at 43 and 45 Royal Oak Plaza N.W. (corner of Royal Oak Way and Royal Birch Boulevard) for more information.
