A step above: Stepper Custom Homes
Stepper Custom Homes builds on half-century of making dreams happen
Stepper Custom Homes has been crafting some of the finest homes for over half-a-century. And though they don’t crave the spotlight, this award-winning home builder is already a step above the rest.
When you consider how long Stepper Custom Homes has been building in Calgary, you’d know you’re reckoning with a bona fide institution. Although they don’t crave the spotlight, the spotlight finds them anyway. At the last SAM Awards, Stepper Custom Homes ran away with a litany of awards yet again. “It’s really important to be recognized by your peers. We’re proud of the quality of work we put into our homes. The SAM Awards is a nice venue to showcase that kind of work,” says Stacey Wells, marketing director for Stepper Custom Homes, Inc.
Stepper Custom Homes has every reason to be proud. Not only are they one of the oldest custom home builders in Calgary (over 50 years), during the last SAM Awards night, they went away with some of the most coveted awards given to a home builder. In April, they bagged three new home design awards, (for homes built from the $249,999 up to $504,999 range), as well as being a finalist for best new home in the $435,000 to $465,999 range. They also placed as finalist for the Grand SAM Award for builder of the year. Then there were the other awards in recognition of their marketing and media tools. “I think the SAM Awards are becoming more important. The home buying public is becoming more aware of what the awards stand for,” says Wells.
Like any healthy competition, the SAM Awards recognize the best of the best in the home building industry. The SAM Awards is also a recognized marketing opportunity, a way to get further exposure to reach potential homebuyers. “It’s a great venue to compete in. I think it gives us a bit of an edge in marketing our homes and gains us even more respect within the industry,” says Wells.
She says the amount of goodwill the SAM Awards generates extends to the homeowners whose homes were showcased for the awards. “The homes we featured under the New Homes category were not even show homes. It’s just great to know that our home owners were as excited as we were to participate in the event.” Coming together to create a winning team, excellent design and craftsmanship as well as the ability to form strong customer relations maybe just some of the reasons behind Stepper’s continued success. One other factor is their new program, Home Owner Satisfaction Team (HOST), which recognizes a customer’s wants and needs are of utmost importance, thus giving them access to every detail in the home building process. “The HOST program provides homeowners a team to whom they can talk, where the lines of communication are always open,” says Wells.
Winning can be contagious, and makes for good company. “We were extremely excited to be part of the SAM Awards,” says Wells. With three New Home Award wins and making the grade for finalist in other categories, Stepper is hard at work building new projects with the fall opening of their new show homes in Mahogany in southeast Calgary, Heritage Hills in Cochrane and the Summit of Montreux in southwest Calgary. The home builder currently has show homes in Copperfield, Heritage Hills in Cochrane and Boulder Creek in Langdon. They are also pre-selling the last phase in Westcreek in Chestermere.
