At first glance, the neighbourhood may look like it’s in need of a little TLC, but everyone knows you can’t judge a book by its cover. At least that’s how the saying goes.

The same can be said when it comes to finding the perfect piece of property in the perfect part of town. And for some, that perfect piece of property is only a stone’s throw away from downtown, minus the trouble that downtown sometimes has to offer.

Overlooking the city skyline from across the Bow River, the community of Renfrew has been undergoing a major facelift as of late, leaving the bad behind and bringing in new faces and places.

Emerging like a diamond in the rough in the rapidly transforming neighbourhood is a luxury condo development—The Adora by Sokol Developments Inc.—with homes ranging in price from $290,000 to $650,000 that doesn’t need to beg for attention.

“The re-development has been coming for quite some time now. You are buying in very close proximity to Bridgeland area, but you are not paying Bridgeland prices,” says Todd Gow, CEO of CondoSource, who represents the project. “The location here is very key. You just have a short walk to the retail boutiques and restaurants.”

Since the first piece of machinery hit the soil in 2006, young professionals and young baby boomers have taken note of the four-storey 30-unit condo project located at 725 4 Street N.E., which has nine units remaining.
After stepping foot into the show suite of one of the spacious units, it’s easy to see why The Adora has become such a big hit. The units, which range in size from 633 square-feet for a one-bedroom to 1,438 square-feet for a two-bedroom penthouse unit, are available in four various floor plans that utilize their space to the absolute fullest.

Upon entering the current show suite, one is overcome with a sense of expanse due largely in part to the large windows that allow plenty of natural light that reflects off the gorgeous hardwood floors throughout the living and dining area.

The corner of the living room boasts a gas fireplace that’s perfect for curling up beside with a good book during a cold winter or chilly spring evening.

The look of sophistication carries on into the kitchen, which boasts stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, ceramic tile, undermounted sinks and rich cabinetry.

Aside from the units themselves, 26 underground heated stalls and six above-ground covered stalls keep vehicles secure at all times while residents catch a few rays on the sun patio or visit with friends in the large common area.

While the sought-after luxuries are clearly visible in each unit, it’s the hidden features in The Adora that truly define the word quality.
In order to make sure your hardwood floors live a long life, each unit comes equipped with a built in humidifier and the bathrooms are designed to offer the most cabinet space possible.

“The developer seems to take a lot of personal attention to each and every development that they do; he’s a perfectionist,” says Gow. “I think it gives the buyer a lot of confidence in what they’re purchasing. They know they are gong to have a quality home to live in with very few, if any problems what so ever, for years to come.”

Sokol Developments Inc. is no stranger to the Bridgeland/Renfrew area. The final unit of The Sienna at 41 6 Street N.E. was recently sold, while The Verana, located at 47 - 6A Street N.E. is getting ready to open its doors for occupancy in mid-July.

The Verana has 11 units available and will feature 16 spacious urban contemporary style suites ranging in size from 877-square-foot one-bedrooms to 1,125 square-foot two-bedrooms, starting at $369,900.
