Many people are in the market to buy a home, and recently the trend has been to look towards condominium living. However, space in the downtown core is at a premium, and in some cases the cost of purchasing a condo can be a little daunting. One company has found a way to offer luxurious, yet affordable condominiums, steps away from the city centre. Denver Carrington Developments’ most recent offering, The Susan, has the location, aesthetics, and the pricing that will grab the interest of those in the market for an elegant condominium home.

The Susan is a two-storey building offering eight highly individual homes on a beautifully treed street; located just minutes away from the city’s downtown core. Denver Carrington’s Colin Darrow says this isn’t just any ordinary condo conversion either. “The project is named after a very important person who has touched my life,” says Darrow. “The building, like the individual it is named after, personifies class, quality and beauty, which is why all the care and devotion has gone into turning The Susan into the special residence it is.” The Susan’s remaining one-bedroom home is $239,900 and the remaining two-bedroom homes range from $259,900 up to around $289,900, and currently an amazing show suite is also available for viewing.

The building, itself, has all new windows, paint, sidewalks, and a brand-new intercom system and each unit has an attractive high-security lock system installed at the time of possession so that no one but a suite’s new owner have keys to their new home. Additionally, the common areas are as elegant and welcoming as the units themselves; with hand-blown glass light fixtures and art decorating the walls, residents will appreciate coming home, and will be proud to invite company to visit.

The show suite is a modest two-bedroom unit with some amazing features and finishes that would appear to be upgrades, but are in fact standard. The living room offers beautiful laminate flooring, warm wall colours, an attractive fireplace and a view of the quiet neighbourhood from the balcony. The eating nook is nestled between the living room and the luxurious kitchen—which includes beautiful cherry cabinets, exquisite granite countertops, stainless steel appliances including a five-burner stove, elegant tiled floors and fully-tiled backsplashes.

Attention to every detail includes Darrow, himself, going with the owners to choose custom lighting. The reason there is only one fully finished show suite is each unit is designed for its owners. “There are suites that aren’t yet fully renovated,” says Darrow. “This is because we truly customize each home. Here you pick everything from the flooring to the lighting.”

Choices owners are given are of the highest quality, and in many cases are also environmentally sound. For instance, the carpeting is made of corn fibre deemed better for the environment than tradi-tional oil-based products. This hardly means sacrificing aesthetics, however, as these carpets are not only luxuriously thick, they are also extremely soft to the touch as well. These smaller homes are designed to maximize space while ensuring comfort; after all, your home should be your haven, and with The Susan it is also your castle.
