A few years ago, Avalon Master Builder hit upon an idea for housing that has caught the imagination of buyers because of its uniqueness.

The ZEN line of homes was introduced as Avalon’s answer to providing good looks as well as its passion as a steward of the environment.

ZEN Riverstone is the latest in a strong line of developments by the award-winning veteran builder to be brought to the market — this one located in the Brookfield Residential’s Cranston Riverstone community in the southeast.

The 204-home enclave brings with it the ZEN philosophy and vision that includes style, affordability, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Other ZEN developments currently underway include ZEN Redstone, ZEN Urban District in Seton and ZEN Chinook Gate in Airdrie. Past developments can be found in Ravenswood in Airdrie, Okotoks, McKenzie Towne, Auburn Bay and Cranston.

Prices for the Cranston’s Riverstone project start from the $170,000s for one- and two-bedroom level-living flats to the low $300,000s for two- and three-bedroom two-storey city homes, and with garage homes starting in the $340,000 range, according to Marni Chenier Avalon’s sales and marketing coordinator . Sizes range from 517 square feet for the flats to 1,503 for the two-storey city homes.

“Each home is built with the same ZEN philosophy and delivers the same promise so you can live your life in balance,” says Chenier. “No matter where green technology takes us or how styles change, we will always be leading the way.”

The first stage of development in ZEN Riverstone launched in late 2018 and consists of 80 townhomes. The 2-storey townhomes come with a private fenced backyard — and most even have rooftop patios; offering somewhere to hang out and catch the views of the available natural surroundings.

“The location of our townhomes is great for buyers who want the convenience of living close to local shops, amenities and services just minutes away, that Cranston Marketplace and Seton provide, but still want to be connected to nature,” says Chenier.

In this regard, ZEN Riverstone sits in the lush greenery and pathway that wind through Fish Creek Park so you can cycle, hike, fish, and jog without leaving the community.

The already quick access to and from ZEN Riverstone will be further enhanced this fall, with the opening of the Deerfoot interchange at 212 Avenue S.E.

Because of the varied sizes and styles of housing being created by Avalon, the buyer profile is fairly broad, says Chenier.

“We see buyer interest coming from first-timers in their 20s and 30s and downsizers making lifestyle decisions but want to remain in Cranston who are in their 40s and 50s,” she says.

Avalon’s approach to housing has always had a strong belief in providing quality housing and tying it tightly to the green movement.

ZEN’s approach to townhome living has always been about balancing the practical and the stylish and giving buyers a home they can be proud of. And it’s not just the great locations, price points, or floor plans — it’s about the whole lifestyle package.

Lots of indoor space, lots of outdoor space, quality construction focused on meeting lifestyle needs, and all designed with the environment and sustainability as part of the community planning equation.

The Zen Riverstone Presentation Centre is located at 1083 Cranston Avenue SE. and is open Monday through Wednesday 2 to 8 pm and on weekends and holidays from noon to 5 p.m.
