Calgary is a vibrant growing city that has begun to bring focus back to its inner-city development, and revitalization of some of the oldest neighbourhoods has become paramount in the venture to increase housing and breathe new life into our city’s centre.

Union Square signifies the culmination of the rebirth of First Street SW, now known as First Street Village. A joint venture between Apex Cityhomes Limited Partnership and Western Securities Limited, Union Square is the last high rise development on First Street, and its dual towers will be a sparkling landmark in this section of the exciting Beltline district.

Imagine two glittering contemporary towers rising from Edwardian-style architecture to soar towards an azure sky; a prestigious high-rise development offering amazing cityscapes and even panoramic mountain views. Now imagine an historical street setting that has been restored to, and even surpasses, its original grandeur. First Street Village includes some of the most high-end retail names, an abundance of stylish shops and cafes, and it acts as a natural corridor between trendy 17th Avenue and Stephen Avenue Mall.

Only minutes away from Calgary’s business centre, and within walking distance to galleries, fine dining and exciting nightlife, Union Square is uniquely situated between our city’s newest cultural venue and the beautifully restored Haultain Park with its recreational facilities, lush green-spaces and historic sandstone school house.

Bryan Logel, Project Sales Consultant for Union Square, says that preserving some of our city’s historical architecture is an integral part of the revitalization process. “We’ve been able to save the Underwood building by incorporating it into the base of the towers,” says Logel. “The old deteriorated brick has been replaced with comparable commercial brick, and we’ve matched the first and second floor architecture with the original and included features that make the transition to the contemporary design of the towers.”

Union Square will offer the only park-side lobby in Calgary, with the Parks and Recreation Foundation moving its offices into the preserved Haultain School, and a spacious park area situated between the two structures. “Tennis courts and other outdoor recreational features will sit above Union Square’s heated underground parking, encompassing that parkland and making it a part of the development,” says Logel. “We have all the parties involved to ensure that the park is meticulously maintained.”

Aside from its fantastic location, one of the great aspects of purchasing a residence within Union Square is that you no longer have to use your imagination to see what is being offered. The first of two gleaming towers is already near completion with first possessions taking place this month. Currently you can visit the sales centre located on the 21st floor, enabling you to see first-hand the incredible views being offered. Although the majority of this tower’s residences have sold out, some of Union Square’s best units were reserved by the builder and are now being offered to those looking for an exquisite home, an exceptional lifestyle and enhanced quality of living. Ranging from $340,000 to $609,000, these impressive 633 to 983-square-foot suites offer all the luxury and prestige that a penthouse usually offers, at a fraction of the selling price.

With incredible standard features such as a gourmet stainless-steel appliance package, custom maple cabinetry and luxurious granite countertops in both kitchen and bathroom, hand-set ceramic tile flooring and much, much more, the residences in Union Square will far exceed your expectations. In addition to the many attractive features these suites offer, every home includes expansive floor-to-ceiling energy-efficient windows. These double-glazed panes also include a tinting feature that ensures crystal clarity from within the home, while maintaining privacy from without. Absolutely every consideration has been made towards comfort and security in both your suite and common areas. You really couldn’t ask for more in a luxury residential development.  CL
