Synergy in King’s Heights

A community comes together for a greater outcome

Airdrie has a different energy these days. There is the buzz of commercial construction along the Queen Elizabeth highway. From there, it’s non-stop building along Yankee Valley Road. Airdrie doesn’t fail to impress, not with the growth spurt that pervades the community left and right.

Having been spoiled with the polish and newness of every passing scene, it is not surprising that the newly minted King’s Heights community, located along Airdrie’s east side, is just more icing on the cake. King’s Heights, after all, is where Reid Built Homes, one of Alberta’s largest builders of affordable homes, is building Synergy, a 52-townhome project that is handsomely neo-classical in architecture. “Synergy is the end result of collaboration between the developer, the builder and the homeowners, thus achieving a greater outcome,” says Brad Grosul, sales associate for Reid Built Homes.

The three-bedroom, two-storey, two-and-a-half bath, Synergy townhomes, are not only Built Green™ with energy efficient features such as high efficiency furnaces and Energy Star lighting fixtures, but come equipped with what can be considered upgrades in newly built homes: granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel energy efficient appliances, a washer and dryer combo, even a detached double garage accessible from the rear. A vinyl fence in the backyard is added for privacy. “We offer the best in maintenance-free living, so people can come and go as they please,” say Grosul, adding that King’s Heights has ensured that wide green spaces, ponds and pathways will meander along the community, a sure attraction for growing families.

Synergy has four different model units, starting at the $280, 000 (including GST), 1,360-square-foot Fuzion, all the way to the $332,900, 1,490-square-foot Harmony. Each of the townhomes has a distinct personality of its own. The Element has an open-style staircase, a flex room that can be transformed into an office or an extra bedroom, and a huge island where one can prepare or eat meals while watching TV from the great room. “The Element has a built-in speaker system incorporated into the home,” says Grosul, so that it’s easy listening to music all throughout. Upstairs, the laundry area is right off the master bedroom, while the walk-in cabinet has a window.

The second townhome, the Harmony, is also finding favour with younger buyers. “We have built in speaker systems and an IPOD adapter—so everything is controlled by an IPOD which you don’t see too often in many new homes,” says Grosul. There is an entryway where you can bring in groceries from the back and set them down in the kitchen and a small mud room where folks can hang up coats before they enter the great room. The flushed island in the kitchen allows people to help themselves even as others prep up meals. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an ensuite equipped with a big rain shower and a seating ledge. Two extra bedrooms and a laundry that gets lots of natural light from a window make for a cosy second floor.

Airdrie is certainly set to have the one of the biggest retail outlets once the Kingsview Market opens. Residents of King’s Heights will also enjoy the Yankee Valley Crossing community mall. Even Calgarians are looking forward to the opening of the Cross Iron Mills in Balzac which will certainly change the retail habits of Albertans. Schools, sports centres, and libraries all abound within proximity of King’s Heights.
