McKee’s Valley Park townhomes beckon Airdrie ‘settlers’
If you haven't been to Airdrie in ages, you’re in for a major surprise at how this bedroom community’s face is being transformed. This was evident on a weekend drive up Yankee Valley Road to see the Valley Park townhomes project of McKee Homes. You can gauge just by the energy in the strip mall right beside the new Valley Park townhomes that Airdrie’s east side is going places. “It’s definitely picking up, which is why Valley Park townhomes is such a central location,” says Alan Stuckert, McKee Homes’ sales representative for Valley Park.
The Valley Park townhomes is an 84-unit multi-family project of McKee Homes, an Airdrie family-owned home builder with over 20 years of home building experience. Valley Park may be just a stone’s throw away from the Queen Elizabeth II, but there is a definite feel of having left the noise behind once you drive through what looks like a very private community entryway.
The beauty of the Valley Park townhomes is that there is a choice between a two or three-bedroom, 1,273 to 1,403-square-foot plans ranging in prices from $249,228 up to $262,000, including GST. Homeowners can select from two main floor plans, with a variety of upper floor options. “We also have an alternate main level where we can reconfigure the location of the half bath for privacy and make for a bigger u-shaped kitchen,” says Stuckert.
The Valley Park townhomes have a fresh looking exterior that is classic yet contemporary, and can suit buyers across the board. Some of the home sites also have walkouts. “It’s a good way to get started in real estate and, being maintenance free, homeowners can fill their time with lifestyle options other than housekeeping,” says Stuckert.
The three-bedroom show home has an upper laundry facility which Stuckert points out is a customer-pleaser. The two-bedroom variety will have two master suites. Other features include oak cabinetry, kitchen backsplash tiles, and full fibreglass bathtubs. All the homes will have front-attached garages as well as rear decks. Homeowners can also choose between chrome and brush nickel lighting fixtures. Stuckert points out that that what you see in the model homes is exactly what you get, so there are no surprises. Clients can then choose to customize their homes with an in-office home consultation.
Stuckert says that he is seeing a lot of young, first time buyers, just-married couples, even friends who each get a master suite. “They share the house and mortgage and it ends up being cheaper than renting.”
Pets are allowed in Valley Park, and there is a private park available to the residents. For those times when quick snacks are needed, the strip mall right by Valley Park has a McDonald’s and other shops and services. Families have a choice of schools, sports and rec centres. World class shops and stores are set to open in Cross Iron Mills in Balzac. Airdrie has an extensive bike pathway system that goes throughout the city. There is no shortage of places or activities to try at Airdrie.
