There’s an old saying that goes something like this: Even a poor day of fishing is better than a good day at the office. And, of course, a good day of fishing — those times when you actually catch something — beats just about anything.

For many Calgarians, summer means fishing season. Time to get out the rod and tackle box and take to the local rivers, streams and lakes for a little R & R. And, whether you’re trolling, casting, or fly-fishing; whether you take them home to eat or practice catch-and-release; chances are good you won’t have to leave Calgary to do it. In fact, many lucky Calgarians can fish right out of there own backyard! Read on, as we share the locations of a few popular Calgary fishing spots and check out some must-have items for the serious angler.

Even if you’re not into fishing, there’s still something extremely appealing about living next to a body of water. It’s like being on holidays all year long. In this, our lakeside living edition, we’ll visit some of Calgary’s lake communities, and talk with some people who live there, to find out what the attraction is. We’ve also got a special feature on Calgary’s first ‘resort community’, the town of Chestermere.
The magazine is still called Condo Living for a reason, however, and on that end we deliver the goods better than anyone else in town. This month we feature four very different condos: from Aspire by Jayman’s Alora and Calbridge’s Rancheros in Cochrane; to the Georgian Villas in Chestermere; to the funky Infinity condos in Bridgeland — there’s something for everyone.

And, for something completely different, we take a tour of Cher’s loft condo in Inglewood. No, not THAT Cher. But she definitely does have a style all her own and it’s reflected throughout her living space, which actually doubles as her home office. Enjoy the tour, I know I did.
