June in bloom
The “Bedrooms of June” is what I want to call this issue, as this room where we spend nearly a third of our lives in is the main focus. We have two-fold coverage of the theme, with Calgary interior designer Alykhan Velji, offering design tips to spice up the master bedroom, while I try to strike a balance on whether it’s the kids or the parents that gets the final say in designing children’s bedrooms.
We also start our newest monthly Shopping segment that is re-focused to give tips and advice in buying household furniture and appliances. For our inaugural feature, we examine bedroom dressers where we draw on the experience of a couple of experts to see what you need to know to get your perfect bureau.
Medican’s Sanderson Ridge takes centre stage in our monthly condo features, and we talk about this distinctive project’s recent big SAM Awards win. We also check out the Boulevard Townes by Birchwood Properties, which promises to bring Manhattan sophistication in the Quarry Park multi-family development, and sit down with CalBridge’s Dan Hippe to discuss the charms of The Village of Sunset Pointe in Cochrane.
L. Sara Bysterveld hops into the bed scene with her ‘green’ beddings feature in her Going Green column. We also talk to Jason and Joanna Glynn who are awaiting their first child in their lovely condo in our lifestyle feature.
The issue isn’t complete without the mention of Calgary’s June happenings in our events calendar, great Father’s Day gift ideas in our Gadgets section, and finally a feast of fruit bowls in Focus On.
What can I say? June is in full bloom.
Next month: We turn our attention on the living room.
