Child’s play
With the slew of comic book characters coming to the big screen, it would be simple to think that plastering your kids’ rooms with the latest superhero/cartoon character is the easy way of giving your child the coolest room that they will forever be thankful for. I’d hate to rain on your Pixar parade — but that’s just not how it goes.
If we’ve learned anything in designing and furnishing your home: there’s no such thing as a short cut. And that is what designing a child’s room with themes tends to be. After all, today’s Transformers obsession will be last year’s T-Rex phase. Fads fade, Design & Décor’s Aly Velji reminds us, as he enumerates a few tips in coming up with a more lasting design for the kids’ rooms. I add my two cents to the subject by pointing out some of the latest ideas in furnishing for children’s rooms — which, as it turns out, can be the most challenging room in the house to furnish.
With summer almost upon us, gardening expert Patricia Johnson gives us some tips in starting your container garden — pretty handy for the condo dweller and his limited garden opportunities.
We have some stellar condos in this month’s condo profiles, starting with our cover feature – Remington Development’s first multi-family development: Champagne in Quarry Park. Lusciously luxurious, it’s the epitome of exclusive elegance in this new riverfront community. Silverado by Slokker in the southwest community of the same name gives us townhome affordability and luxury in a family-friendly package. While UBG’s Valmont at Aspen Stone offers single-level multi-family living in a lush, natural environment that boasts the best of Westside living in Calgary. Swan Landing gives you the opportunity to enjoy the best views of the Rockies while still in a very accessible — and quiet — part of town.
As we look forward to the dog days of summer after this wetter-than-usual spring, we can look for more new condos and home design ideas that we here at Condo Living always try to provide.
