Condo-ho-ho-ho

The holiday season may be all about gifts and goodwill to mankind, but here at Condo Living it’s still all about giving our readers the best coverage of Calgary’s vibrant condo market; although we do get to spread the Christmas spirit with our features on Christmas trees and on decorating your home for the holiday party season.

Christmas trees define the home for the holidays (that is, for homes that observe the Christian holiday), but it’s the topic of endless debate whether one should get an artificial tree or a real one. We get right down to the pinecones of the issue in our Shopping article, laying down the pros and cons for each and giving readers a list of choices where they can get their tree from once they’ve made their decision.

Aly Velji gives us some succinct tips on how to design your home to not only reflect the spirit of the season, but create the backdrop for a most memorable Christmas party.

It may not fit under your tree, but our cover feature on PIXEL by Battistella seems to be the one of the best presents out there. This latest development by the renowned family-run, Calgary-based developer has it all: a top-notch location in trendy Kensington, a sleek urban design done with aplomb and an irresistibly affordable price. Stonecroft Auburn Bay is a gift to future employees of the South Calgary Health Campus as it is just on the entrance of this lakeside community in the southeast and basically at the doorstep of the new hospital that will soon begin limited operations. Emerald Sky by Carlisle Group is a bright star that follows the developer’s string of successful multi-family projects. We also get to explore the townhome developments by Evolutions by Greenboro and Avi Urban in Currie Barracks, which is shaping up to be one of the hottest inner city developments in Calgary.

The colder weather has not affected the strong sales of condos it seems, but in her Condo Insight column, Maria Bartolotti gives some key questions that one has to ask oneself before plunging into the multi-family lifestyle and the bylaws that one has to live with in this setting.

Getting along with neighbours is key anywhere, and the Christmas season brings this generosity of spirit around even more. But here at Condo Living, sharing the good news of the Calgary multi-family market is a year-round enterprise. Merry Christmas, faithful readers!
