Hello sunshine!

Is it just me or is the sunshine making everyone want to break out into a Beatles song? (“Here Comes the Sun” or “Good Day Sunshine”, take your pick.)

And the positive mood and generally good vibes are reflected in Calgary’s new home and condo market, which seems to be thrumming with an energy that has been sorely missed these past few years. Just look at what we have in store for you inside.

Our cover story on Red Haus by Streetside Development encapsulates this positive outlook with the launch of their fourth and final building in this Austrian Alps-inspired complex in the coveted northwest part of the city. We get to talk to Jillian Harris (again) of The Bachelor/Bachelorette fame, who continues to extend her brand of personalized décor with the two new show suites she designed at Mosaic Mirage in McKenzie Towne. Evolution by Embassy Bosa shows the way for the most lavish living in East Village, an area that is quickly becoming the urban oasis it was always envisioned to be. The Park by Lake Placid emphasizes stylish Beltline living with its serene location between two of Calgary’s most historic parks in the beltline, while Vogue, the latest development from the La Caille Group, promises the best in location and style in the sought-after west side of the downtown.

Also this month, we bring you a bunch of pet-centric features: I talk about the careful considerations one must first think of before bringing a pet to your home, while Jessica Patterson’s On Trend feature shines a light on pet-friendly design options for your living room. One tip, if you have a pet, buy lint removers in bulk.

Of more importance to us, however, is the Living The Dream magazine that comes with this copy of Condo Living. Living The Dream is a Source Media Group initiative in support of the Cancervive and Wellspring Calgary cancer outreach programs, and you can see the stories of the brave and intrepid souls who are undertaking the epic Cancervive bike ride to Maine this year to raise funds and awareness to battle cancer.

This is one way we get to show our support for the community and something our company looks forward to being more involved in.

As you can see, Condo Living itself is starting to gain some heft, which can in itself be an indicator of the robust market. This welcome development has allowed us to bring in two of Calgary’s most trusted real estate journalists: Marty Hope and Kathy McCormick. Marty’s Hope at Large column debuts this issue and takes a peek into the inner workings of the city’s condo and new home market and their movers and shakers. While the more astute reader may have noticed that Kathy has already been providing us heady stuff in the shopping corner of the magazine, she puts the spotlight on living room furniture this issue.

It’s in times like these that you want to go out there with the best information for choosing your home, we’d like to believe we’re helping in that regard.
