Hot coffee, cool lifestyle

I must confess, I’m a caffeine fiend. I love the smell of hot, brewing java in the morning and Kathy McCormick’s Shopping feature on the latest coffee makers and espresso machines is a real treat for me and makes me just want to break out the Visa and start acquiring all the neat new stuff that promises a life of caffeinated indulgence. With all that bitter, high-octane brew coursing through my veins you’d think I’d never be able to sit still, that’s where Aaliya Essa’s look into feng shui comes in.

She explains in her feature how one can attain a calm, balanced lifestyle by practicing this ancient Oriental method of aligning your home to harness the earth’s chi, the elemental energy believed to exert a positive influence on our lives. Jessica Patterson’s On Trend design feature on kitchen backplashes rounds out this month’s lifestyle write-ups and actually gives me an idea of what would make the perfect backdrop for my new coffee maker on my kitchen counter.

The real heat of this September issue is in the exciting new condo developments we are bringing to you in our monthly rundown of the best multi-families in town. We start with Streetside Development’s latest project, Hunter House, which is going up in Silverado in the southwest and is the latest in the developer’s phenomenal run of successful condo communities.

We also take readers to Sonoma at Sage Hill. The latest by Vertical Properties, its location on top of a ridge in the popular northwest community gives it phenomenal views and a partnership with renowned home décor retailer Crate and Barrel has created one of the sexiest temporary sales centres you’d ever think possible.  Then there’s Groves of Varsity by Statesman that’s moving on with the next phase of this extraordinary development that promises a convenient, relaxed, stylishly affordable multi-family environment in the northwest. Sarah Deveau also brings us up to date with the latest on Remington Homes’ Copperfield Park townhomes and apartment-style condos in this sought-after community. Our community feature on Nolan Hill by United Communities explores this latest land development that takes advantage of its prime location in the booming northwest.

We’d also like to invite everyone to make their way down to the BMO Centre in Stampede Park for the Calgary Home + Design Show, we’ll have a booth there and you can stop by and say “hi”. Check out our feature on what to expect at this year’s show that runs from September 20 to 23.

Summer may be close to over as we write this, but optimism for the new season for the Calgary market hasn’t wavered, and as usual you can trust Condo Living to keep you up to date with what’s going on.
