December 2017 | issue 216

“It’s better to give than receive,” I was always told as a kid every time Christmas came around. But check out our gift guide feature in this issue, and I’m sure you’ll be wanting a lot of receiving this Christmas too. Shelley Boettcher took the time to go around town and give us the low-down on the best local stores to do your Christmas shopping. It’s always good to support hometown businesses, and as Shelley points out, you wouldn’t have to fight through much holiday traffic here compared to the big malls.

We also want to help you prepare your home for the holidays with Christmas décor tips from our STYLE writer, Christina Loc. She has a lot of DIY ideas that will certainly help raise the Christmas spirit in the home. I also spoke with Deepti Chadha of Threads & More to get the perspective of how Calgary’s non-Christian residents get in the swing of the Season.

Speaking of getting into the swing of things, our friends at Partners Group are ecstatic with the response for their ARRIVE line of townhomes, as they release their latest in the northeast community of Redstone. ARRIVE at Redstone Way certainly addresses all the wants and needs of homebuyers looking for the space of a single-family home at multi-family affordability.

Our new writer, Brandi Holmes, checks out Legends of Legacy by Aldebaran Homes and The Guardian to see how integrated these two developments are in the community they’re in and how they are able to attract new residents. I find out more about the newest condo development in the inner-city, Scarboro 17, which also relies on its premium location in this historic neighbourhood to drum up interest. We also cover StreetSide Developments’ latest townhome offerings and find out the wide variety of their designs to fit every segment of the market.

Trico Homes’ Wentworth Pointe rounds out the first year of our Designer Series of features that look into the ways interior designers work with developers in coming up with in styling show homes. We’ve received a ton of positive feedback on the series so look forward to more of these in the coming year.

Finally, have you checked out our revamped website It’s easier to navigate, has a ton of exclusive content and has a more pronounced lifestyle edge that homebuyers are looking for. It’s also optimized for use on smart phones and tablets, so you’ll have all our exclusive content and archived articles right on your fingertips.

This year certainly was a whirlwind for us at Condo Living, it seems like only days had passed since we were celebrating Christmas 2016. But we’re all eagerly waiting for 2018, there are a lot of condo developments and new communities out there that we’re eager to explore. Come along with us for the ride.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
