With Stampede upon us again, looks like I have to adjust my cowboy belt another notch up to make room for the pancakes and sausages I’m bound to be taking in to celebrate the annual fete.


There may even be more to celebrate this year with the new political leadership in the provincial government. During a private function celebrating the opening of Chairman’s Steakhouse in Westman Village (see story in Around Town this issue) that we were lucky enough to
attend, Jayman BUILT founder, Jay Westman, told the gathered crowd how optimistic he is about the future for Calgary’s economy with Premiere Jason Kenney at the helm of the Alberta government. He says the business-friendly policies of the new provincial administration
will go a long way in spurring new investments like Westman Village.

It shouldn't take much. I mean, Calgary is still Number Four among the world’s most livable cities, according to the Economist (only Vienna, Melbourne and Osaka are higher). And hopes are high that the new provincial government can take this even higher.

Q Condominiums in Sage Quarter Hill may have something to say about that, as it is one more example of the kind of world-class multi-family residential developments that are going up in Calgary. Situated in the enormously popular northwest sector of the city, Q is in the
very heart of a vibrant commercial development that brings the richness of a modern, urban life to its residents. Morrison Homes Multi-Family breaks ground for this groundbreaking development this June, read more about them in this month’s cover feature.

StreetSide Development’s Ember Park is all about the price advantage, offering the most affordable two- and three-storey townhomes in the city. With prices starting from the $230,000s, StreetSide believes they have the advantage not only in the savings but in the style
and value that buyers can get here. Their location in Calgary’s vibrant community of Redstone in the northeast further increases their edge.

Then we have Auburn Rise by Logel Homes. The initial offering from the group has been a big hit, racking up sales records and customer recognition as they go along.

“The project launched in the spring of 2017 and has achieved over 150 sales in that period, with more than half occurring in 2018,” says Brayden Logel, Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Customer Service.

We carry our Stampede theme indoors, as well, as our Style contributor, Christina Loc, focuses on the popular Modern Farmhouse design trend that is a perfect fit for us here in Stampede City.

Fit, however, is not in my immediate future. Not even all the dog walking I do these days is going to help much in controlling my weight if I don’t watch what I eat at the Stampede parties I plan to attend. I’ll tell you all about it — and all other new condo developments — next month.
