GlobalFest to light up Calgary skies

Pepper Rodriguez

A grand fireworks festival sheds light on multiculturalism in Calgary, as Trico Homes and GlobalFest celebrate another year of bridge-building among the city’s diverse cultures.

The much-awaited annual event will be held August 14-29, with Trico Homes’ International Fireworks Festival running from August 21-29 at Elliston Park in the southeast. This year’s fireworks pageant will feature teams from Mexico, Spain, China and Canada.

The fireworks show is just one of several events marking GlobalFest. There is also the OneWorld Festival, also held at Elliston Park, where GlobalFest Cultural Pavilions showcase and celebrate over 60 unique cultures of Alberta’s ethnic communities featuring dance, music, food and more; plus a film festival, a human rights forum and more events showcasing Calgary’s diverse cultures.

Trico Homes has supported GlobalFest since 2005, as the award-winning builder realizes the importance of such an event that brings communities closer together as it continues to work on more culture bridging and community building projects.
