Excellent showing by Calgary builders at conference
Calgary builders once again stacked up well in the provincial building awards in Jasper, at the annual conference for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Alberta (CHBA-Alberta) September 21.
Unity Builders’ Group’s Alpine Homes took the coveted Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year hardware, as well as taking home honours in three more categories—for multi-family (wood frame) project, multi-family, duplex villa or townhouse over $250,000 and multi-family overall complex from the 2007 Awards of Excellence in Housing.
Not only was 2007 a record year with close to 50,000 homes crafted province-wide, but it is also the first time a multi-family builder has earned the much-sought after Ralph Scurfield prize. “UBG Alpine Homes came on strong in the beginning of the competition and their hark work shone through in their entries,” said Awards of Excellence in Housing chair Lesley Conway.
Calgary’s Cedarglen Homes also came away strong, with the Alberta New Home Warranty Program Customer Choice Award for multi-family, small-volume builder (under 60 homes), while Aspire Condo Living by Jayman got the nod in the 60-plus/ large-volume category for Customer Choice.
