Cardel Lifestyles, Cardel Homes and Cardel Resorts will soon be under one roof and in a new home better suited to accommodate Cardel’s growing list of staffers than its current address overlooking Deerfoot Trail.

The announcement to triple its current digs’ size and relocate to Quarry Park follows plans by Remington Development Corporation to convert a 314-acre brownfield site flanked by Riverbend and Douglas Glen Estates to residential and office space. Remington will craft the new 105,000-square-foot address, set to boast room for all three companies’ employees as well as a “new twist on the homebuilder design centre,” that Cardel is remaining tight-lipped about just yet, according to Damon Ockey, Cardel’s director of marketing.

“Cardel was the first builder in Calgary to open a design centre back in the early ’90s,” notes Ockey, adding the move is slated for 2009. Currently, Cardel’s offices are spread across the city from the main office overlooking Deerfoot, to office space downtown and in Douglas Glen.

Cardel’s future home will feature a theatre available to the public and a banquet area, including 170 theatre-style seats that will rival the builder’s current offerings and one that promises to be an attractive venue for the arts community, in exchange for donations of non-perishable food donations.

Also slated to house the 350,000-square-foot head office of Jacobs Engineering, when complete, Quarry Park is expected to be home to 2,400 new residences, 7,000 workers, and two million square-feet of office space in a campus atmosphere centred on a lake feature and path system.
